I decided to give the xrecord plugin a try today and it appears to have real problems. Since I installed it, about two minutes after GBPVR starts, the computer crashes hard. No keyboard input, nothing to do but turn off the power.

Needless to say, this is suboptimal.

How do I uninstall this thing? What files need to be deleted, what registry entries need to be zapped?

Next thing I'm going to try is to deactivate the plugin in the GBPVR config.exe, but I want it gone. How do I do that?

The authors may have a way to uninstall cleanly but I'm pretty sure if you delete these three dll's it will be disabled. I noticed the fastfindplugin.dll appears both in the gbpvr and gbpvr\plugins directories. There are also a bunch of skin files and utilities but those should be harmless.

"Plugins\FastFindPlugin.dll"
"Plugins\recordPlugin.dll"
"Plugins\Guide2J.dll"

Thanks. They throw fits about being in use when I try to delete them... I'll have to reboot into safe mode and whack them.

Probably didn't stop gbpvr and the recording service. Hard to imagine a bug in a gbpvr plugin could cause the entire OS to hang. Usually device driver problems are necessary for that kind of system hang.

I agree... it is strange, but it only manifested itself when xrecord was installed, and it doesn't manifest when xrecord is turned off.

Just another update on the the wackiness that xrecord unleashed... I noticed that my scheduled recording weren't recording, and that a program that I had scheduled to record last night was still marked as "recording" in the pending recordings window. So I went to GBPVRtray and brought up the status box to see if it was indeed still recording or what... It reported that there were at least 8 capture devices... it went off the bottom of the screen. So I had to uninstall the card and reinstall it. Now it is happy again...

I've never heard of this happening but I wonder if xrecord corrupted the gbpvr database. Just curious, are you configured to use sqlite or access?

It is a db3 file, which means SQlite. It is a stock 99.5 installation, no tweaks other than a couple of plugins like weather and video archive and music library2.
