Hi all,
First off I must say that I am pleasantly pleased with what I have been hearing about GBPVR and the community behind it. I have a couple questions about my first home brew PVR.
The system is:
AMD 2000+
1GB RAM
60GB HDD
Integrated video (can add a ATI 9250 or 9550)
DVD-RW/CD-RW combo drive
SB LIVE 5.1
What I want to do is:
- Watch TV on my PC
- Record shows to hdd for burning/viewing, convert to ipod for the wife..
- Schedule automatic recordings of shows
I do not need to view the PVR on a TV however. I just want to view it from my PC's monitor. I have a Xbox 360 with media connect running for media so if converting to .wmv would be an option, that would be best.
I was thinking about a PVR-150 with the remote. I can get it through my work's vendor for $70 shipped. Now for my true question, will I need anything else other than a coax cable coming into it? I have heard people saying they got bad cables from Hauppage but I am unclear as to what cables they are talking about.
I have Comcast cable and I have one box in our family room for the on demand service and a line just running into our bedroom going straight into our TV (no set top box, no digital channels or on demand). This is where I want to put a splitter and run it 5ft into the back of my PC.
Is this all plausible with my current machine and the PVR-150? Sorry for the long winded post but I wanted to make sure I gave you guys enough info! Thanks in advance!
