Quote:Does GBPVR have a full screen mode ? So that I do not see the window border and stuff ? In 720x480 move of the window border is gone but not all and it's definately catches the eye while trying to watch tv.
Just uncheck the 'run in window mode' tick box on the front page of the config app, or alternatively press Alt-Enter.

DOH!!!!!!

Now if I could only get the resolution right. 720x480 at the moment but in full screen mode it's like gbpvr is "too big" for the tv if that makes sense.

Try changing the aspect ratio (f7). I don't think this works in overlay mode so you have to be running vmr7 or 9.

I put the flicker filter to the worst.
It makes the desktop jitter, however the video looks best.

pastro Wrote:Play a DVD on your computer and see if the picture quality is what you expect out of a DVD. If it is, then the TV out is working well enough to create a decent picture with a DVD source.
It's also useful to burn a show to DVD and play it on a standalone DVD player. You can eliminate the PVR150s drivers, splitters, etc if this looks good.

Playing a comercial DVD showed up great on the tv. Now I have to record a show and burn it to DVD. I burn dvd's all the time but have to figure the process of burning a recorded show.

Are you sure this is not a decoder issue? Have you tried using the purevideo decoder? I get a significantly better picture with this decoder.

My tv-out is the on-board and I think it is only nVidia 6150. Is 6150 supported for Purevideo ?

I have looked harder and found here that the 6150 is supported (although with reduced functions) so I'll have to try this. Thanks Smile

WerewolfTA Wrote:Went and picked up a decent quality s-video cable from the Home Depot.

Besides price (you get what you pay for), how would one know a good quality s-video cable ?

WerewolfTA Wrote:Good quality splitters and correct-length RG-6 cables make a difference, too. I found that I needed an RF booster, as well.

I got this splitter from the Comcast guy roaming the neighborhood. Prolly good ? As for the coax cables from the splitter to the pvr150's, those are about 12" each. I am going to try and run into the comcast guy again and see if he will make me another set that are about 4-5".

How did you "find" that you need needed a booster ? Are there signs ?

Look for a grainy picture or snow in the picture. Before you add an amp make sure that all of the coax connectors are tight. Loose connectors are lossy and allow interference.

If you add an amp put it before the splitter. (Ideally as far forward in your cable system as you can) Many inexpensive amps are noisy and don't add much unless you are splitting many times. I think you probably have a 1:3 splitter so you are going to lose a minimum of 5dBs and probably more like 7. I doubt an amp will help much unless the signal level of your cable system is low.

Get showburner from the utilities section of the wiki.

It adds on to the transcode menu in the video library plugin. Select a file and then press transcode and you should see new options to:

add for DVD burning
burn DVD
delete file from dvd burnlist
delete all from DVD burnlist
read dvd-que and total size.

It sets the chapters at the commercial skip markers if available.
