In another thread, I'm helping someone with ZProcess

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=25967

Anyway, a patch I just wrote hacks the output fps of a transcode to match the source.

so far an MVP MPG with 23.97, 29.97 and 25 fps all transcode and display well on my NTSC MVP and TV...

Can I expect problems from PAL users?

Thanks

I did a little test: Changed the mvp-ffmpeg-commandline in config.xml from 25 fps to 29.97 fps. Then started an avi, it played ok. I checked the temp-file it was 29.97 fps. It looks like the mvp plays 29.97 fps fine. Perhaps setting the mvp to pal only effects the output, not the input.

I'm starting to suspect that the Hauppauge setting in the MVP should be set to match your TV but not a transcoded video.

I'd like to see what would happen if you took a NTSC mpg clip and played it natively on a MVP.

And vice versa. If you're interested in seeing, I could upload a small clip...

The problem (if there is one) might only show up when the monitor doesn't sync to pal/ntsc as you told me yours does.

With ZProcess. I'm more interested at this point in the effects on a Television and MVP.

A monitor is a whole different ball of wax.

So far the testing shows, the MVP can take the different framerates

What I am saying is that many PAL TV's are multi-sync, something we don't see in Canada.

Didn't know you were a Canuck, Martin. But you're still cheering for the wrong team Big Grin

Anyway, I guess I'll just leave it till someone on PAL land complains...

Look great on the Computer monitor and the TV....

Thanks

As I have a tv that plays both ntsc and pal ok, I can't really help you. Sorry.

I have a multisystem TV (it's even 16:9). I created a few MPG clips (see http://www.xmixdrix.com/video/ and also http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=25944&page=2 post #14).

I'm switching between NTSC and PAL (just for testing) by stopping the GB-PVR service and starting the two MVP ones, and then using the standard Hauppauge setup to switch. I then do the opposite with the services to get GB-PVR back on my MVP.

Based on what I've seen, the MVP wouldn't play a PAL MPG when it's set to NTSC. In the UI it just freezes for a second (on the folder list), and then you're back at the folder list). Both 23.976 and 29.97 fps NTSC videos play fine.

When set to PAL, it will play NTSC videos, but with blocking errors that look terrible. This issue was discussed in http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...t=pal+ntsc.
I don't think I tried the 23.976 movie, only the 29.97 one.

If you want to test something else, please let me know.
