Sub, I don't know how it works for DVB-T but for QAM, if you just pass the ac3 as is in mpeg-ts mode, I can make mpvmc play it just fine. That's how I'm doing it with TSReader now.

I assume you mean some type of circular buffer file. No, but the scheme I use for net radio seems adequate for most people. With net radio it just downloads to an ever growing file then tells the MVP to play it.
Yep, that's the sort of thing I mean - I tried this with a simple DS graph that used the LAME encoder to dump to an mp3 file but I couldn't get the Music Library to play it back (as it was recording). Perhaps it was a file permissions issue. Using the Music Library probably wasn't the ideal test but I was looking at a quick fix/test.

I don't think I even tried it on the MVP - probably at the PC only.

I missed that one. As a rusult of work (and background noise on the forums), I haven't been paying such close attention over the past few weeks.

Cheers,

To be honest, I'm not going to anything for DVB-T radio (or the ATSC equivalent) at this stage. To do it properly and have it accessible on PC/MVP/ClientPC is quite a bit of work, and requires new screens and changes to the scanning to separate the concept of normal channels vs radio channels etc. Too much work for now, especially given radio is a low priority for me.

If it had be called gbnetradio something then it would have been able to cope with playing the file while still recording. Its a special case where for mp3 files with this name.

OK - that's something I didn't know.

After a couple of Graphedit oddities (as ever), I've got BBC7 playing through my MVP from a gbnetradio mp3 buffer file in Music Library. No glitches.

Some more experiments needed though.

I'm not going to promise any time scale but I can put together a simple DVB-T radio exe which will write to a file that can be played back from a plugin (or Music Library at least).

If an mp3 file named gbnetradio (as mentioned by sub above) can be played from a plugin, then perhaps you or someone else would be willing to put together a plugin specifically to control the exe. As I see it, it would just need a play and stop button plus a list window for selecting the channel. The list window could simply be populated from a text file which would only need to contain the LCN (not displayed) and the channel name. The play button would simply 'shell' the exe, passing it the LCN as a command-line argument - the exe would handle the tuning information from a separate file.

Cheers,
Brian

I honestly don't know if my .net coding skills are up to it... yet

I'm certainly prepared to have a go - so please let me know if you get round to doing your bit. Meantime, looks like it's off to the 'hello world' tutorial for me...

Well it looks like what I was going to be doing tonight is delayed for another day so I'll have a play with some stuff.

The night is young (-ish).

"Did you get anywhere with this"

Thanks for asking, not had much time to play so havn't got far at all.
Poked about with the database and found the info I needed from TSReader, last night as an experiment I tried out radio 4. Using the DVB EPG the listings appear in the TV Guide and it played fine in live TV.

The PC I tried this on used to be my network client. I fitted an HVR1300 ( leading to this panic...http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=30336 ) but I must be missing a mux or filter or something because all recordings are comming out in .MS_DVR files. A sample recording failed with no file being produced, although the recording appeared in the Recordings screen.
I guess this is an example of something Sub cautioned about with the video mux failing because there is no video in the stream. When I get recordings in .mpg sorted out I will try again.

My main drive for Radio is Radio 4 comedy and documentary programs. Also classical and rock concerts from Radio 3 and 1. ( Classic FM would be good, but they are not broadcasting on DVB(T) around here). Streaming live to MVP and client PCs would be good, but mostly I want to capture the programs in MP3 files for playback and to listen on my portable player.

I was thinking of stripping out the audio to an MP3 file from the .mpg file using Cuttermaran and saving the MP3 file in the music library for playback. I was thinking of creating a Postprocessing.bat file that would check the size of the recorded file. If its less than 100M treat it as audio and start cuttermaran. If its greater than 100M treat it as a video file and leave it alone.

I've been reading all the posts and now apprieciate the work involved in integrating Radio "properly" , it seemed so simple when I didn't understand the problems ! Just feel sad my coding skills arn't up to the task. ( If it had been written in QuickBasic :-) ... )
