Season / Fan  Record

I am sure this has already been mentioned, but having test drove Sage and Beyond recently I found these two features very useful.

Simply doing a 'record season (all episodes on this channel)' is great, but be able to detect from the guide the shows original air time and determine if it is a new show or not is a great feature.

Also the 'FAN' mode would be a welcomed addition.

So this is a two-for reqeust for the record menu from the guide to have two more options added to it.

Season Record (record all new episodes)
Record All (record all episodes on all channels)

That program, along with the External Recording Manager (which among other things adds Priority Recordings, time and channel restrictions). Basically, the External Recording Manager treast everything as a Seaon Recording All Episodes All Channels configuration, and with the configuration options, you can narrow it down to specifically what you want, so you aren't limited to what is specified by the application.

It might give you what you need, control wise.
