set your decoder to default (if you dont do the following you will find the cards hardware acceleration may not be working correctly causing more issues)
no icon =no hardware acceleration
is see your cpu is only 25% but i get that with mine and its only a 2800sempron cheapest 64 processor at the time at 1.8ghz
your is a dual core so i would have thought it would be like 15% or less if HW accel was working
but you must make sure that pure video is the default decoder
you can do this with a windows decoder checkup utility(very handy tool)
what connection to your tv are you using

i have gone back to my nvidia card and downgraded my connection to svideo from component it seems my tv was causing half my trouble component had sync issues using svideo the picture is a bit softer but more forgiving when it comes to other things that get to me panning i hate funny lines going down the screen and i hate jitters
soft picture i can deal with as i got glasses at the beginning of the year and im used to things been a bit fuzzy so its still shrper than when i didnt have glasses Smile

in a few more weeks once im happy i have my system running i will format the old system drive and install the 2400 again
effectively giving me a dual boot but on completly different hard drives
i dont trust have 2 operating systems on the same drive for dual boot

Stu,

I am sure Purevideo is not the default. I'll try to fix that when I get home. I may ask you again how to do that after I try myself. I am using VGA into my LCD TV. I watched several shows last night and there weren't any stutters only a horizontal line every once in a while during a pan (like once every five minutes or so) which I can get used to. I'm hoping the HW acceleration will help.

Stu,

Is that setting in Catalyst? I found some buttons for it there for horizontal and vert sychronization (they are + and - for each, I set them both to +).

I downloaded the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility and it says that Nvidia is my preferred decoder. I assume that is what you meant about it being my system default. It still doesn't give me a hardware decoder icon. Is there anything else I can set?

I set it to high quality and now the file doesn't play. Under DVD advanced it shows Main Concept (HCW) and not Nvidia. How do I change that?

I also made sure GBPVR was using Nvidia audio decoder also. I still don't get the icon using either program.

i always thought that using the media check tool set it to default i guess i was wrong
if it were me i would uninstall all but nvidia(this is what i have already done)
as i dont use anything else anymore i have tried them all and decided nvidia pure video gives me best results
or you could just reinstall overtop nvidia pure video in the hope that it makes it default
sounds like you have issues with the way its installed anyway if you are getting a blank screen that would indicate to me that vmr custom(direct 3d) is not working as it should be
either a driver issue or a decoder issue

my seetings are in config video decoder is default and audio set to nvidia
