Fair enough - it is a little hit and miss at times due to the nature of what it does! I'm not having problems with TV1 and 2 though? (Although it did stuff yesterday on TV2 but thats the first time in a long time). As we speak I just checked and I have reliable EPG for the channels mentioned out till friday evening? I use the following command line

xmltvnz mychannels.xml tv1 tv2 sky_tv3 sky_c4 sky_prime sky_sport1

Interesting that until now I had forgotten I was using Sky for TV3 and C4 although they've been reliable and gives a good EPG - Tv3 has good episode information etc - C4's website used to be VERY unreliable!

nope I'm still missing tv1/tv2 have been since saturday. Tried using one of the other feeds (sat_tv1 and xtra_tv1) but reven didn't think they worked any more... aah - cos I'd changed to sat_tv1 etc over the weekend. Because it didn't work.

It's back now, just re-ran it.

Sometimes I find I have to delete everything in the Cache and Resources folders under XMLTVNZ or it gets the same bad guide info from the cache instead of getting it from the web again.

mobiusnz did you find a NZ or Oz supplier of the Pinnacle dual sat card? Also are we safe to assume the drivers would be fine with GBPVR (sub)?

Cheers

No - not yet. I haven't heard from the NZ distro yet if they can get them in - no replies from Anyone in Oz but no-one lists them there. The best is in Germany they are only like 60 or 70 Euro but they won't ship outside Europe!!!! From the Pinnacle online store they are too much - they wan't around $300 NZ each which when you consider the prices in Europe is too much so I may have to order from Germany and ship to my relatives in the UK and get them to send them on. I just got my dish up on Sunday although it needs a little fine tuning as its giving less strength than earlier so I'm looking at getting a cheap Sat card from Ebay for $40 Australian to start playing with - just trying to find out if they have BDA drivers.

I'm tempted to bring in a whole bunch and sell them to get the costs down - I'm sure I could find people here and on MCE forums who'd want them but I really want to get one to test well first.

I think I read somewhere (while Goggleing) that someone brought one into NZ from the UK - have you tried the Pinnacle UK site?

If you do bring a number in, I'd a goer for one!

Problem with modern motherboards is the number of PCI slots are reducing (admittedly there is normally a PCI-E x1), meaning dual is the way to go if you want multiple tuners. I guess USB could be a solution (untidy in multiples though) but I wonder how many can be USB tuners can be connected before USB bandwidth becomes an issue?

I have tried the Pinnacle Store and they want criminal money (not undercutting their dealers I guess) - I only have 2 pci slots currently - I'm about to change boards to get 3 total but I want 4 tuners like I have now with Analogue - Or at least 2 digital and 2 analogue. Ideally I see myself having 4 DVB-S tuners and 2 analogue tuners which will use 3 pci slots with dual tuners which is perfect!!!

I can't justify spending more on DVB-S cards than I spend on my Hauppauge MCE500's as there is more expensive hardware on the analogue cards as they need dual Mpeg2 encoders onboard which the Sat cards don't so I'm not about to spend the $300 it would cost me to get them from Pinnacle's store.

If people here can indicate their desire to purchase I'll lobby the NZ distro of Pinnacle products to get some with their next shipment.

I have been saying the same thing, WHY is a (no hardware encoder) capture card DEARER than a motherboard?? Doesn't make sense to me!

I will be interested in a number (probably 3 or 4) (if the price isn't to steep) & in 1 if they are steep but not prohibitive Smile

I see Freeview has added the 'V8 Supercars' channel, covering the 2007 Australian V8 Supercars series for the remainder of the season.

I'm sure we'll also see Canwest add a 'Rugby World Cup' channel later in the year to attract more punters to Freeview.
