When I'm watching LiveTV, the analog channels look better when deinterlaced. But the digital HD channels (especially CBS and NBC) skip and stutter. When I turn deinterlacing off, the digital HD channels are smooth and stutter free, but the analog channels look worse (not unwatchable, just not as good as deinterlaced).

Can GB-PVR be set up to use different deinterlace settings for different situations without exiting-running config-restarting? More specifically, is there any way to tell GB-PVR to switch deinterlacing on or off depending on which tuner is used? So when I'm using an analog tuner, I'd like deinterlacing turned on. When I'm using a digital tuner, I'd like deinterlacing turned off.

Any 1080i broadcasts will need to be deinterlaced as well.

I was thinking of this same idea last night. Playing Xvid videos showed some jaggy artifacts that would disappear when deinterlacing was turned off. I used FFDshow to perform deinterlacing.

Currrently, I have Dscaler as my mpeg decoder and I have deinterlacing though Dscaler enabled. This means that all other videos would be played without deinterlacing.

It would be nice if options like deinterlacing could be intelligently applied. (IE: If the AVI splitter is used, turn off deinterlacing or FFDshow postprocessing. Do the same if the resolution is 1280x720.)

GB-PVR doesnt really have any control over deinterlacing performed by the decoders you're using. This type of thing is typically only accessible by private API only available to companies that license these products.

The only thing that GB-PVR does in this regard is rely on the decoder settings being "sticky", ie stored software in the registry by the decoder properties page and automatically reloaded whenever that decoder is used. GB-PVR has no way to tell it to use different settings at different times or anything like that.

Ok I can understand that. What about running a batch file that loads the different registry settings before the graph is rendered?

Maybe this should be in the wish list section....

So you're telling me.... there's a chance it will be in the next release? Big Grin

I'm kidding! I'm kidding!

Sub, thanks for taking the time to answer all the questions. GB-PVR just keeps getting better because of it!

How about just allowing batch files to be run from the custom task list?

To answer my own question..
Should be able to run a batch file on invocation of cmd.exe.
EG. cmd /k batchfile.bat

Create a couple of batch files to change the registry how ever you want and create a couple custom tasks to invoke them.
