You still use the MCE beanbag, but you use the Hauppauge remote...

I still don't understand how the hauppauge remote would control the tv like the m$ remote can turn it on and off.

I guess it's possible with some combination of HIP and IR blasting?
* Rogers Analog Cable [Canada]
* Hauppauge WintTV PVR USB2
* IBM Thinkpad T42 / 1GB Mem / Centrino 1.6Ghz / 60GB HD / ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 + VGA/DVI out
* MCE Remote + Keyboard
* Win XP SP2 / GBPVR [Latest version. always]
* Pioneer HDTV via VGA (1360x768)
* MS Remote Keyboard
* Logitech Harmony 880 [via MS Remote Control Reciever]

The driver that you use with EventGhost is not actually for the remote, it's for the Beanbag. The MS beanbag receives IR from many devices, the MCE remote of course, but also the Hauppauge remote.

You would tell EventGhost to ignore MCE remote IR in favour of Hauppauge IR.

It's possible that I haven't communicated correctly. You wanted the coloured buttons. I suggested that you throw away you MCE remote, not the beanbag, and use the Hauppauge remote.

You have to understand that with EventGhost, you can have any button do anything for you.

The MCE remote does not turn the TV off. It talks to the Beanbag, the beanbag tells Event Ghost what to do, It turns the TV off... You can use any remote you want, as long as you teach EventGhost the IR codes...

Actually the MCE remote does send the IR codes itself. It has a TV power button, and be programmed so that it sends the appropriate IR signals for your TV.

Really. That's cool. Now where would someone configure the IR to match my TV?

Found the undocumented docs online... I didn't know...

But that shouldn't matter. Having the TV IR go to the beanbag, then EventGhost sending the IR to turn off the TV would be the same as many other functions

Yes

And don't ask me about that part. Big Grin I have not used EventGhost with the blasters yet. Wakalaka got me hooked on this program, but I haven't needed the blaster part yet.

Just discovered that EventGhost does not currently support MCE beanbag transmitting IR....
