Sound Skipping on PVR150

Hello! I have a Hauppuage PVR 150 card in my computer. I like it, but the sound skips. It seems to be worse on some channels. It kinda adds a skip when there is noise. For example, right when someone begins a sentance, it will skip. By skipping, I mean the sound turns off for a fraction of a second.

It's not really bad skipping, but enough to be really annoying.

Are there any solutions? I'm really upset this card is working very well, it was a lot of money.

Its probably the audio decoder you're using.

Try different audio decoders to the one you currently have selected (see setting on 'playback' tab of config app).

I tried using all of the audio decoders. All gave me sound, but all of them skipped. The official Hauppage WinTV program does this too.

Which ones did you try exactly?

Ah, ok. I'm not sure then. Maybe drivers for you audio device need updating.

Okay, I'll try and update the sound drivers later (the asus support site is down as usual). I might be asking the wrong person, but does hauppuage have any warranty on their products?

I dont know. It probably varies from country to country.

Try playing a recording on another machine. This would at least tell you if its a recording or playback problem. If its a playback problem, then there is nothing wrong with your PVR150.

OKAY, I just put it in another computer, and same result. Arrgh. Hopefully hauppuage will replace it, or else I'll be stuck with an $80 paper weight.

[EDIT] For future reference: If anyone has this problem, I called Hauppuage and they emailed me a new driver which fixed the problem. Yeah!

In case this helps anyone, I'll add my experience with a few specifics. I have a 150 MCE with the same sound skipping using the latest version of drivers on Hauppauge's web site (2.0.48.24227). I tried 2.0.48.25037 and the sound problem is solved.
