Further to this, here is a writeup. This looks to be a good product:

WinTV-HVR-4000: the best quad-mode TV receiver for your PC! WinTV-HVR-4000 is a four-in-one TV tuner which can receive four different television formats: analog cable TV, Freeview digital terrestrial DVB-T, digital satellite DVB-S and High Definition digital DVB-S2. Watch and record analog cable TV, digital Freeview and High Definition digital satellite TV, all from one PCI board!

Digital TV now comes in High Definition. High Definition DVB-S2 satellite TV brings the ultimate TV experience to the PC screen. HD gives you the best quality video and CD quality audio. Record movies in the full HD H.264 format to your PCs hard disk! But if you can't currently receive high definition digital satellite TV, the WinTV-HVR-4000 can still be used to watch and record cable TV, Freeview or standard free-to-air digital satellite TV.

Freeview DVB-T digital terrestrial TV and radio on your PC! Watch more than 50 Freeview digital terrestrial TV broadcasts and digital terrestrial radio on your PC, with a simple rooftop aerial. WinTV-HVR 4000 will also support High Definition DVB-T channels (when available).

Connect WinTV-HVR-4000 to cable TV and you can watch and record TV programs to disk. Record your TV shows (or your home videos) using "Good, Better or Best" MPEG-2 compression. Schedule FM radio recordings in WMA 32, 64 or 128 K/bits! You can also receive analog teletext.

Record analog, DVB-T or DVB-S TV in high quality MPEG-2, or high definition digital TV in H.264! Use CyberLink PowerCinema's TV scheduler to automatically record your favorites TV shows, on a daily, weekly or once only schedule. Or use the free Electronic Program Guide for digital TV to have an overview of all up coming programs!

Hauppauge's remote control makes the WinTV-HVR-4000 easy to use - control all of Media Center's functions of CyberLink PowerCinema with the ergonomic remote control. Change channels, adjust audio volume, start recordings, play music, start a slide show, all from the comfort of your living room couch!

I've got one of these. The only real downside is the analog side of it the device lacks a hardware MPEG2 encoder, otherwise a decent card.

does it have two Satellite Tuners (1 for DVB-S and 1 for DVB-S2) or is QUAD just misleading as its a DVB-S2 tuner that backward compatible??

Ie can you record/watch 2 DVB-S channels with this card?

I'm guessing no - but I though I'd check and who better than someone who is actually running the card. I can get these for under $200 so if it will do 2 DVB-S it'd be a great card.

BTW - Saw your message and found the V8 Supercars channel - pretty cool that they can just throw up a temporary channel for an event!! As you say - It'll be great for the Rugby World Cup (Hopefully widescreen!!!!!) - I'm suprised they haven't got an America's Cup channel!

No, it cant do that. From memory its got one tuner that can handle either DVB-S or DVB-S2, and another tuner that can DVB-T and analog. So in theory you'd be able to record two Freeview channels, one from DVB-S and one from DVB-T (when the DVB-T service launches).

I could be interested if you could give me a rough indication of a price.

Watching Americas cup action on Versus channel on Directv in the US. Looks like Team New Zealand is doing well so far. The Italians sure were on their game and took out the US. Sad Go team NZ!

Cool! Thanks for the reply on this. So.. Is this the only card if i want to use freeview and analog tv (for prime) in new zealand. Do i need anything else?

Im guessing that i can watch freeview and record analog at the same time (or the other way around)?

Sorry for the low-end questions.. Just getting started here!

Thanks again,

Simon
