Hey sub, also - is there any downsides to this card? You mentioned that the analog side of it the device lacks a hardware MPEG2 encoder... Considering that im going to be viewing and recording freeview 95% of the time... Is this an issue?

I take it that the DVB-S side has everything that you need?

Anyone see why this would not work:

http://www.digitalnow.com.au/product_pag...ttroS.html ?

Its currently out of stock but the specs are impressive:

Four tuners on one PCI-e card. This device is equipped with two DVB-S tuners and two Hybrid (Digital or Analogue) tuners supporting FTA Digital TV (satellite and Terrestrial) as well as Analogue TV and FM radio broadcasts. Supports all Australian DVB-T formats including 1080iHDTV (MP&HL) and AC3 Audio.

Features

Support DVB-S Protocol (EN 300 421)

Support DVB-T Protocol (EN 300 744)

Support DVB-Data Protocol (EN 301 192)

Support NTSC / PAL / SECAM Analog TV System*

PCI Express Standard

Dual DVB-S Tuners and Dual DVB-T/Analog Tuners

Dual Analog Video Capture (S-Video In / Composite Video In)*

DVB-S DiSEqC 1.2 / USALS Support

Advanced Signal Routing Technology (eg use one or two RF inputs to feed both tuners in WinXP) please read the Readme.txt file in the drivers archive for details of how to do this.

DVB-S:

* Input Terminal: 75 Ohm Male F-type Connector
* Receiving Frequency: 950~2150 MHz Tuning Range
* Input Level: -75~-10dBm

greminn Wrote:Cool! Thanks for the reply on this. So.. Is this the only card if i want to use freeview and analog tv (for prime) in new zealand. Do i need anything else?

Im guessing that i can watch freeview and record analog at the same time (or the other way around)?
Unfortunately its lack of MPEG2 encoder makes the analog unusable from GB-PVR.

(not entirely true....it will try to do it if you have Hauppauge SoftPVR installed, but it does a really bad job, not good enough to use in book. audio/video sync issues etc)

The only downside I'm aware of is the lack of encoder on the analog side, which I've already mentioned - otherwise its seemed fine on the testing I've done with it.

Hi sub, one more quicky.. the specs on the 4000 say that it does high definition digital TV in H.264. Does this mean that it will work with H.264 freeview that is yet to arrive in NZ?
