Good going zehd, I like seeing that the wiki's are being updated... some I'm sorry to say look like that need a face lift.

While reading your new wiki i do have a couple of comments...

I found that the following buttons were missing on both the Hauppauge and M$ remote listings.
Play - ^p
OK - {ENTER}

Menu(i) I believe is really labeled More on the M$ remote.

Zehd,

Can I confirm what this does? I have a USB-UIRT and the 45 button remote from my MVP. If I install one of these, will I then be able to use that rempte to zap my USB-UIRT, which controls my DSL Box at present without affecting that box and do stuff like change channel volume etc etc from my bed :-) ...

Typo at "quiet easy" btw ... :-)

Well what this does is let folks look at the key mapping from a different perspective than the existing Key Mapping page. This one makes more sense to me, and as I was collecting the info, I decided to share.

I think I wrote that the HIP or EventGhost profiles are not for the remotes per se, but for the IR receivers. In both of circumstances, using either the Hauppauge or Microsoft remotes, it's still based on using the IR Receiver from the MCE Remote.

What I did for both HIP and EventGhost is installed the alt MCE driver, and used the two different remotes to create the profiles.

(You may have read that currently EventGhost does not support blasting)

Anyway, in answer to your question, the real point is to show how you can swap remotes, without swapping IR hardware. If you have the USB-UIRT already installed with HIP, then you should be able to change out the one remote with another remote, maybe with more buttons - which is the original topic in this thread) But not with these profiles because they're based on the MS MCE Beanbag)

Setup correctly, you should be able to blast anything that receives IR. But that is not what I was trying to show.

If you'd like we can try and look at your wish in more detail...

In a much much simpler response. Yes you could use your MVP remote with the USB-UIRT to blast whatever you want. The wiki page does not discuss THAT part of it though...

THAT's what I needed to know :-)

Presumably no interference with the SAME USB-UIRT changing channels when told to do so by PVR?

I may not be on the same page...

Most remotes have different IR. Only specific devices respond to specific remote codes... When you have your USB-UIRT set up correctly, using HIP, (EventGhost isn't ready for this yet) when you send an IR from the remote, Only the USB-UIRT should respond or acknowledge it. THen the computer, would then send a different IR out the blaster to the device. If the device and your remote already talk to each other, then yes, the IR would interfere with the flow...

The UIRT also has an on-beanbag broad scope blaster that would also interfere if the the Transmitted IR matches the same as your remote.

I know this is confusing. But none of this has to do with the wiki page I wrote...

But... there's a USB-UIRT plugin? http://www.eventghost.org/wiki/Plugin_List#USB-UIRT

Oh bummer... but if the MVP remote doesn't control the DSL Cable Box in any, it would work right? A long time ago I asked sub if we could get the remote learning for the USB-UIRT to extend to the other keys rather than 0~9. He said to use HIP :-)

SURE IS!

This is what I "thought" I'd need... but looks like that it MAY be a non-starter?

The docs are a mess. I can't remember seeing the list. But MCE cannot blast and USB-UIRT has limited blasting capabilities.... UNLESS he's just updated the software AGAIN...

(Don't know if anyone else saw me over there, but I lost my cool when he called GB-PVR poorly written....)
http://www.eventghost.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=320

DO NOT GO OVER THERE AND START A FLAME WAR !!!! GBPVR USERS DON'T FLAME
Be Cool.... Cool

Yes if the DSL TV remote and the Hauppauge remote use different IR codes then you WILL be able to fly both sets of IR and they won't conflict.

Am I to understand you want two different remotes, one for the DSL TV and one for your computer? Yes this can be done...

If you'd like I can write another walkthrough for YOU to create the profiles that use a Hauppauge remote, USB-UIRT, and GB-PVR...
