Anyone know of a 802.11a wireless ethernet adapter I could use with the mediaMVP to make it wireless? I see people are using 802.11b or g, but I already have an "a" network.

thanks

Well, I dont know of anything specific but all you need is a wireless bridge that will do a. Then get a hub and plug the bridge and the MVP into that.

Try Dlink for starters

I don't know if I'd try using 11Mbps wireless, esp. with how inexpensive 54Mbps stuff is now. I use a Netgear WGR614 router and a Buffalo WLI2-TX1-G54 wireless bridge that my MVP connects to. I do have 64-bit WEP encryption enabled and it works fine with one exception. I did have to move my router a bit to get a strong signal. Without a strong signal the playback was plagued with "hitching" and sometimes froze. The only problem I have is occasionally rewinding or ffing will kill playback. Skip always works fine.

I think 802.11a is actually 54Mbps. You're thinking of 802.11b.

Yeah,

I purchased the SMC2755W 802.11a access point and PC card for like $40 combined off of tigerdirect a while back. Works great for my laptop. I'd like to fit an adaptor on the mediaMVP to make it part of the network.

BTW - 802.11a has some range issues due to the 5Ghz freq, but its actual throughput is much better than 802.11g. Both claim 54Mbps signaling, but the throughputs differ terribly

802.11n should be out soon, should provide good range.
