fender Wrote:Are you sure? It's law I believe in the US for your cableco to push unencrypted QAM of HD channels available OTA over the wire. Most companies broadcast unencrypted QAM of the whole basic/expanded cable lineup. Missing only the premium digital cable channels. There seem to be two interpretations of the rules. One is that if the HD channels are present they have to be unencrypted; the other is that as long as the analog feeds are in the clear, they don't have to have the digital clear until the analog broadcasts end. There is also some reference as to whether the station demanded "Must Carry"affecting encryption. Some stations don't want to "give" the HD signals to the cablecos and have refused to allow it to be present without payment. They want money for carriage. The cablecos know they will get it free when analog ends and don't want to pay extra: = temporary stalemate. It's a complicated legal situation but usually the HD QAM locals are in the clear. If the cableco is a D**k about it then none of them will be. If a station is the D**k then one or two will be missing.

I picked a great day to take the day off work. Loaded it up. I LOVE the menu look. The main page animation looks great and will love to see what that can morph into in the future. I wish i could say that the upgrade went 100% smooth but ill leave that for the support forum. great work sub

smooth upgrade here no problems. Looking to get Plain Jane to work as a skin. I only use MVP and some plugins like Weather, Cinema, TV Listings and XRecord. So it looks a bit the same. Will look into the default tv guide and recordings what is so differtent.
TNX for the again stable upgrade. Keep you posted...

p3 tuatluan (sp) 1.2 ghz 383 mb ram & with a 256mb radeon 9550 & an ATI 550.
Running tiny XP. The menu's & transition screens are snappy & look good with PVRx2.exe And surprisingly enough, Girder worked with PVRx2 without changing the target. Though, I really only use this unit to watch recordings from my server & to record off the TIVO.

I've been curious how people with slower machines would get on. I thought that CPU would be too slow, but maybe the videocard is more important to this. I've got a 2GHz machine with Radeon 9250, which animates super smooth, but I wasnt sure how much slower you could go. |
