January 25, 2005 Video Archive Plug-in Release

Note that the skin files have changed and must be upgraded to use this new plug-in. Also, to use the graphical display option you will need to install the provided images into a new GenreIcons subdirectory under the GBPVR/media directory.

* Added an option to display files graphically; press the unnamed remote button (Control + O).

* Added support for Windows shortcuts. If you want a video to show up in multiple lists (particularly useful to categorize your converted DVD collection), you can create Windows shortcuts to the mpeg files and the plug-in will correctly resolve them to the source video file.

* Added an option to eject the DVD when conversion to MPEG is complete.

* Plug-in settings are now stored in the PluginSettings section of the config.xml file so that they will be retained over GBPVR releases. Your settings will automatically be migrated when you run the config.exe application and configure plug-in.

* Fixed a bug in the archive utility that caused it to crash if no program information was found for a recording in the GBPVR database.

* Fixed a bug in initialization code when adding directories.

* Updated the GetDVDInfo and DVD Info Editor utilities.

I just posted a small fix to the wiki site to fix a bug in the ArchiveUtility application. I had forgotten to upgrade it to pull configuration settings from the PluginSettings section of the config.xml file.

Jeff,

Is it possible - or would it be impossible - to have your plugin read directories with .ISO's previously archived and catalog/play those as well?

Please let me know - so much thanks if this could be possible.

Thanks a million

Yes, it can be done without much work. I'll add it to the next release.

Jeff - AWESOME!!!! am I out of line asking when?

Also - I am porting from another app, and have multiple drives in use, my structure is

x:\DVD\GOODMOVIE\Movie.Iso
x:\DVD\GOODMOVIE\Folder.jpg or something.jpg

Can u pick up that artwork or do I need to rebuild the Database.

Thanks again

I've updated the GetDVDInfo utility to find artwork and descriptions for .iso files as well as .mpg files. If you run the new utility once it will try to update everything. Thereafter the plug-in will handle it. I;ve already added the .iso support to my build at home and tried it vry quickly -- all seemed fine. I want to try it a bit mroe beofer releasing it. I was also in the process of trying to add support for multiple levels of subdirectories and reorganizing some of the code to make it easier to maintain and in the process I may have broken a few things. I will either post something ni the next few days without the sub directories support or a bit later if I can't get the code back to clean state without comlpeting the work to add the new feature.

Jeff,

THANKS - ONE MORE "TINY" request!!!!!!!!!!!!! But thanks so much.

Here is another scenaio I've tackled with other apps - and can u help me pal (would be awesome...) 70% of my stuff is ISO's which you are nailing, then the remainder are MPEG's and sometimes AVI's (which I kinda think u could handle? But its a tiny bit trickier and this is where I come begging (-:

x:\DVD\GOODMOVIE\MovieTitle_1of2.(mpeg, avi)
x:\DVD\GOODMOVIE\MovieTitle_2of2.(mpeg, avi)
x:\DVD\GOODMOVIE\folder.jpg

My naming is alway consistent - no spaces and just like this. Jeff (-: can u do this pal (-: ? any way at all......

Let me know and tremendous thanks if there is any way at all possible. This is about 30% of my movies which span ohhhh - about 4TB of disk on about 20 drives across a heavy LAN. I am doing this with XLobby now and works quite well but digging deeper here with GBpvr and would like to keep it in the family.

Thanks again for the ISO support - I am very interested to see how that rolls.... u can hit me at ckolibab@hotmail.com if u want me to test anything for you - would be glad to.

Jeff - should have been a tiny bit more clear - the goal would be to have those 2 segments play back to back (show as 1 entry) but almost playlisted if you will...

Sorry if I missed that point. Almost like they queue up - OR - I'd even be happy to create some type of playlist.txt in the folder for each that you would recognize and handle them from there.

Thx
Chris
