Hi, I upgraded last night and like the new version.

I use HIP for with my remote control and it wouldn't work with the PVRX2 executable in the new version (I went into HIP and selected the location of pvrx2.exe).

To get it to work, I had to fall back on gbpvr.exe which works exactly like the old one, although obviously now that I've seen the new interface, I want it!!

Any ideas? I was wondering if pvrx2.exe is setup to work with HIP in the same way, or if I'm missing some changes that I need to make with the new version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - has anyone else come across this?

I have the same problem - the remote won't work at all in the new app. I basically took my GBPVR setup in HIP (which was working perfectly), changed the .exe path to PVR2X.exe and changed the Window Class.

I hope I can get it to work, the new interface looks amazing! Finally my graphics card can be put to good use Tongue

You have to tell HIP to start using the new Program and class...

In hip config, click the folder icon to the right of (probably) 'Program1'

Find the new executable in the browse at the top.

You will need to run the program to get the class... Selecting 'GDI+ Hook Window Class' should be good...

Also, every reference you have in the config to start gbpvr.exe, change to pvrx2.exe...

Weird, I tried both window classes that showed up when the new exe was running (GDI+ Hook Window and one that is like WindowsForm10.blahblah...)

With the old GBPVR exe I used the WindowsForm10.blahblah one (though the new one is a little different)

I also tried this - perhaps there are some other references to gbpvr.exe that I haven't noticed. At least this is confirmation that it should work, so I'll give it another go...

I played about with it again last night.

I can get the new executable to work with the remote for most of the commands (up, down, select, back etc) but there are some that don't work.

In the tvguide, I can't skip using the ffwd, only by pressing 'right'.
While watching TV/video, I can't pause.

These are the 2 main ones so far. I checked that the commands were the same in both pvrx2.exe and gbpvr.exe and they are (I tried ^Q which pauses in both). This shows me that in the case of the pause command anyway, that nothing seems to be different between pvrx2.exe and gbpvr.exe.

I did find a cool wee program called ShowKey.exe in the \gbpvr\KeyMappings directory. I hadn't come across this before. It's good for showing you the last keystroke combination that you've pressed, which could be handy if I need to set HIP up again!!

Any other ideas why my remote isn't working?

stustunz - you mentioned that you had to change a couple of commands (aspect ration/menu) - can I get confirmation that some commands have definitely been changed in the new version?

Sub - do you have a list of all changed commands? Also, are there any differences at all between pvrx2.exe and gbpvr.exe? Or is it purely the UI?

Cheers

No, but for the most part it's exactly the same keys as GBPVR.exe.

what remote are you using?
i only use the start button and f7 mapped to the "*"key (i had to re enter the deatails to get f7 to work. the details seemed to be exactly the same but for some reason it didnt work till i reentered them)

maybe thats why i didnt have the problems you are having

im using a mce remote and in config of gbpvr have it set to that
so hip is only in control of starting and the aspect ratio

Ok I've fixed this now.

With the old GBPVR I had a custom remote driver installed (I followed some guide for this), and mapped EVERYTHING through HIP. This worked great.

But with the new PVRX2 this wouldn't work (I don't know why). So I uninstalled the custom remote driver and just let WinXP detect the driver to use. This allowed a lot of the remote buttons to work out of the box (numbers, up/down/enter). Then I mapped the others using HIP. The weird thing is the HIP mappings for each button used to look like POST(23144,0) and now they look like proper keyboard combos (ctrl+p etc). Maybe that is related to the different driver??

There are a couple of little problems eg. the back button on the remote is interpreted as ALT+LEFT by the default driver and I also mapped it as ESC in HIP - does anyone know how to suppress XP from handling some button presses?

I have the Hauppage MCE remote btw, and I think hexed does too?
