I think its more than the registry. I installed Vista with a PVR 150 and MCE worked fine. I took it out to try the HVR 1600 but beforehand I tried the guide and it wouldn't load, granted I didn't try you utilies but I'm guessing that ehsched will have problems.

Interesting. I have not had a tuner connected to this machine since I started developing the app and I have no trouble with the guide in Media Center. I did set it up with a tuner originally but it has not been connected since.

Maybe its related the HDHomerun, not being a physical device? Maybe this allows you to trick the system.

Ah, you're right. I forgot about that. If I disable the HDHomeRun tuners, I can still download new listings but I can't change the lineup.

Ok thanks for explaining that. I know my brother uses dual boot and is able to keep 1 OS in the background so he is also running a virtual machine then, because he almost instantly switches between the 2.
(in fact i think at 1 point he had 1 OS on each moniter,*uses 2 moniters*)
No clue about that. But on the 1st ill be picking up MCE 05. Id use vista but there just isnt the support for drivers/programs that id like yet.

i haven't had a tuner on this machine and it's running the regular updates...
i copied the reg stuff from another machine with a 1600 in it..
[which kinda sucks cuz it d/l 2 guides, and strangely both same size..talk about waste at 250meg each, both sets of channels in each]

i just copied the media center/service/epg and service/tuners sections from a working machine..oh and i applied those reg entries from earlier in the thread first..
it's like those reg entries enable the epg, but they don't make you a config for your tuner/channel set, you have to make that somewhere with an actual tuner..[or find out all the various entries]

i installed a tweaker app to change the download time too..
still updating on regular basis..

i'll send you the snips of my list and zip shortly...

MCE05 is windows xp Home, + the MCE app...
you can inject the pro stuff but you won't miss it..
other than that, exactly the same...
and there are hacks to add it to an existing xp..
but stability might suffer..

When I think about it I might have done my test after using the Hauppauge utility to clear the registry, so I'm glad this works.

i hate to bring this up so soon...Big Grin
but it seems i need include + exclude..i have duplicates of both...
the local channels are dupe # with digitals, and the locals are also duplicated by name up in the 9000's as well..

easy fix is to just apply the include, then the exclude list...but you say that won't work and in practice this is true...can you change that?

cuz then i can Include the numbers of the channels, then Exclude the digital names from that result and all would be perfect..Big Grin

i suspect other sat and cable users might have this problem..

examples of the channels i'm dealing with..

<display-name>11 KHOU</display-name>

<display-name>11 KHOUDT</display-name>

<display-name>8371 KHOU</display-name>

so by including 11 and excluding KHOUDT i get just the first one...
then i could also make a digital only lineup with include KHOUDT...
an include or exclude of either numbers or names alone won't let me do it..

or can i use include "11 KHOUDT" ? [edit: nope, tried it and doesn't include them at all then]

thanx a bunch...almost perfect..Smile

Okay, I'll fix it and have it up tonight. One thing though: the include list uses exact matches on the callsign. If you use "KHOU" instead of "11", KHOUDT will not be added.
