When running 1.10, I don't get the start up errors and things look smooth until the download which again, craps out at 25%.
Again, where is the xml file supposed to be dropped? I'm interested in seeing if at least 25% of the file is completed. The GUI says everything is completed after I click the Vista error 'close' button yet it does not appear that it's completed properly.

That would be best answered by whurlston. I think the downloader only triggers Vista to download it's data. It stored in it's propeirtary database somewhere in lalah land...

Then the Exporter supposedly knows where it is and exports it (in a correct format) to an xml file in the app directory. So if the MCE craps out, there's nothing to look at...

In the downloader console, scroll to the top. What's the command line that is being used...?

Sorry, not 100% sure I know where it is you're talking about. Are you talking about what is being displayed while the GUI is in operation? If so, what I see in the display area is:
Downloading MCE EPG data...

Operation Complete!

Closing MCE EPG Database...

Converting MCE EPG data to XMLTV format...

Operation Complete!

Stopping the MCE Scheduling Service...

Finished...

If you click the Debug CheckBox, then when the program pauses, you can scroll up and check the command line.

But I got the info I needed from your screen shot, and your PM.

It worked fine for me, But I'm using MCE2006 and running it all out of c:\EPG

I'm going to try it in the same folder you have it in...

Your lineup doenloads fine on my MCE2005 machine using MceEpgDownloder.exe

I suspect an issue with the Vista version.

Has it worked fine when you ran it from your commandline? What location was it? (ehome)?

Yes, ehome.
Previously, if I ran the VistaEPG2....file directly or from the ehome folder, it would give me an xml file. Now however, it does not. Just an error. Don't know why it won't do this anymore.

Check that! I ran a guide update in MCE and then close out MCE then ran VistaEPG2xmltv.exe from another directory and it gave me an xml file. I then ran it in the ehome directory and it again, gave me an xml file. Finally, I ran it in my f:\epg directory where your GUI was copied to and it worked as well. Tried the GUI again and got the same error and crash at 25%.

Thanks for the troubleshooting. Pointing quite clearly at me. Now if I can just find a scapegoat...

LOL, you can't take blame when you're not getting paid for the work as far as I'm concerned.
FWIW, I was leaning to the pay route if the new Zap2it group can get their act together but for just a little work, what you and others have offered seems that it will do just what I need. However, I am curious how much they will want for a yearly subscription. If it's 'Tivo like' in it's price, I don't think many will join.

I pay with my own sweat. I'm certainly proactive.

Anyway, here's a patch. Just copy it into the GUI directory. It won't have fixed anything but it will have copied the incidental batch file (which usualy gets deleted at the end, into another batch "TempDownloader.bat"

Now copy that into a post. Next copy into the same post what you use for a commandline that will make VistaEpgDownloader.exe work for you...

Edit: I'm hoping to see a slight difference

Very strange. Now I can't get the VistaEPG2xmltv.exe file to run in either the ehome directory or from the other new directory I've created that worked before. Seems like running the GUI breaks something that only redownloading the MCE guide fixes.
From tempdownloader.bat F:\EPG\MCE2XML_GUI\VistaEpgDownloader.exe" LA17504-
In my ehome folder, I have the VistaEPG2xlmtlv.exe and MCEPG2Xmltv.exe files and running them works. As soon as I try your GUI, it stops working again until I again get the latest guide data in MCE.
If, after I run a guide update, run the VistaEPG2xmltv.exe file manually in the GUI folder, I get a good xml file.
I'm starting to get confused and think I need a beer break!
