Did you get around it my manually copying it? I'm sorry to say, but I won't be dealing with securities. Banged my head enough on that one. I may add a msgbox that will remind the user to manually copy that folder over...

Code:
2. Click start service and the Ready! comes up but the ehsched service isn't.

This one is baffling. The GUI is not a service. It needs the MCE eSched service running to work though. During Operaton (not idle) the GUI starts the Scheduling Service and stops it at the end of operation.

But users may still have the three services set to run in Automatic, and so they would already be up and running. It is my suggestion to set the Sceduling service to Manual and the other two disable.

Quote:3. After manually starting the service Manual Download also hangs at 25% in VistaEpgDownload I have to end task but when I do this I lose the last error message. I reran with the utility as Administrator and it didn't work either.

Yeah The GUI looks like it's doing something, but it can't be. OK I will be firing of a version that DOES not mess with services. (I know that's not going to work for MCE though)

In the mean time, double-click the TempDownloader.bat that should be in your GUI Folder...

I think there might be some confusion as to how the GUI is working.

Basically it's a glorified Batch File. It's a wrapper for the other utilities...

The zip file will contain everything, including whurlston's utils (ones that work with the GUI)

In theory, it should work just like a batch file, though I think I'm having two different pathing issues with Vista and MCE2005...

I'm hoping that whurlstons latest updates will fix some of these problems.

Currently, there are files that need to be moved around. Some file need to be copied to the Windows Folder, and the eHome folder, and there are files that need to be copied into the GUI folder (Temporary fix for MCE version of tools)

Check the changelog on the wiki. A new version will be out soon...

OK add me to your list of reallllly stupid testers. I was using the wrong set of files. I have so many downloaded I got confused. I am testing now, so far it has found my headend IDs (it even knew my zip code from earlier testing I guess) I am now downloading the epgs. BTW, my epgs both only go to 61% complete and the sit for a while then go straight to complete. Now it has just finished the first download and is converting. Cool. I will post again in a couple of minutes. Sometimes it has been crashing on the other headend conversion.

I have notices a pause at 25% and 61% with MCE. Vista users are getting a time out from Windows when the downloader sits at 25%

Just for fun, close the GUI and just double click on TempDownloader.bat located in the gui directory. Tell me if it pauses at 25 % and 61% for you too...

pcostanza Wrote:I simply just run the VistaEPG2Xlmltv.exe file in your program that I've moved to my F:\EPG directory. Double click it and off it goes. This will work perfectly every time until I run your MCE2Xml_GUI.exe file. Then, only a reload of the MCE guide will allow it to work again. I use no command line at all. It drops the xml file in the same F:\EPG folder.

The only thing I can think of is that the GUI is playing with the service.

The reason I even start and stop the service is: First I don't like having the service running all the time. But that's just me. Starting the services when it's already running doesn't hurt anyone...

Then there's the glitch where between the Downloader and the Exporter, the service has to be stopped and started, to sort of give the data a kick start.

This was documented earlier in the thread. I hope that whurlston can find something he can do with that...

At the end I stop the service. That's probably why you have an erro AFTER trying the gui, because I've stopped the service.

The latest version (19) has the option of disabling the Start/Stop of the service. we'll see how that goes...

What do you mean? Are you having hit or miss with this GUI, or other programs...?

OK, it finished the first one fine. How do I make it dl my second headend? It kept trying to dl the second one on the list (which is the one it dl'd first). I deleted that one and restarted it and it dl't the other one just fine. Should it do both of them?

A little confusing I suppose. The program is not designed to manually pick one headend and download just that listing. (I don't think I'll do that...)

What I saw as happening is: You'd select two different providers. Added their respective headends to the list.

Now, click one of the headends, and click Select Capture Source. You can now choose which one of the capture sources uses which one of the headends...

For example, I have two tuners. One of my tuners is connected to a STB for Digital cable. So that means I have to set One Headend (analog) to the first tuner, and the second headend (digital) to the second tuner...

This should save a couple of the steps you would need to do in GB-PVR's config...

After that has been configured, you'd click Download Listings and it would Download and convert each of the Headends in the list...

If you're testing and just want to download and convert the second headend, then remove your first one.... Add it back later...

I don't seem to have a TempDownloader.bat in that directory:confused:

BTW, since this is not going to be used on the MCE PC, can the GUI find my cards on my DVR box? No biggie, I can set that up, but I think this will be the case with many users.

No the GUI can't find your Cards on the DVR. But it can read you're fortune and baby-sit for you so you can have a nap. (sorry, couldn't resist - it's funny cause that would make for a whole 'nother app: to traverse your network, and poll the device managers of your neighbour's Mac, to find out what you called your cards...)

If you don't have a TempDownloader.bat in the GUI folder, then you're using an old version... we're at 0.1.19 right now.
