whurlston and zhed- Mark a big green check in the MCE 05 column! I just successfully downloaded and converted both of my sources (sat and cable) from a single scheduled download via the GUI.

I have not yet pulled it into GBPVR, but I have done that before so I know that works. Thanks to you both for the hard work!Smile Smile Smile

I will watch and test any updates that you throw at it.

I don't mean logging on as Administrator and as whurlston says that's not going to help. I tried to run MCE2XML_GUI as administrator and it still will crash related to the ehsched service.

Just curious, is there any particular reason not to leave it running?

Remember, I'm using MCE2005... Two reasons why I need control of the service.

First reason, I hate having something run, and possibly download in the background, when that's the point of the downloader.

Second, it seems that in order to update the MCE DB the service needs to be stopped and then started....

I really don't know if it's necessary for Vista, but I assumed...

The prime reason for me is that as long as the scheduler service is running it wakes me machine to do the download and I can't find a way to disable this.

Also I don't really use my PC as a PVR but if I want to record a specific show GBPVR is 100x better than WinTV and I do an ad hoc update. I typically like upgrading my guide for the weekend when I do most of my playing with mvpmc.

@whurlston

Have you made any progress with your MCE machine and the new builds for your utils?

I do a second pass with the digital channel headend using an include file for the four remaining channels Rogers has left me with. Given that it's only CBC & CTV from Montreal, the non analog version of CBCNW with a second audio channel containing Voice Print, I don't consider it a high priority. There's still a problem because these are one channel off but I don't know what they are on the cable box anyway.

The question was really meant for Martin because of the issues with the UAC.

I think I've found a method that will work for you then. If you run the batch file "as Administrator". It will throw up the UAC confirmation dialog but it will start and stop the service. Try running gbpvr as administrator and see if it launches the updateepg.bat with the same privileges.

The MCE machine will be up and running tomorrow. I'm also working onan installer that will detect the OS version and install the appropriate files and also check the path environment variable and modify it if necessary. The only issue is that the machine will have to be rebooted for the change to take effect unless someone knows how to modify the path on the fly with C#.

This should work, I know the International Cinema Listings plugin works using the elevated rights of pvrx2 and the UAC dialog comes up.

PATH=%SystemRoot%\ehome;%PATH% to start off the batch file seems to be the easiest solution.
