How about being able to add multiple possible recording locations. So, in theory, if you had D: and E: and G:, all available for recording, you could record to the one that was the least full, or fill them up in order? Or get really fancy and be able to assign priority, possibly adding locations that are not local.

Just a thought,

The software I support deals with large volumes of images and the way that almost every one of the programs in that specific market deals with it is the way I described. You have a table in the database for locations. Then whenever an image comes into the system it is dynamically ( based on some sort of criteria, whichever one is most/least full or whatever ) or statically ( all Episodes of "24" go to location #2 ) assigned.

After years of dealing with those systems at work, this functionality just seems like common sense in this situation.

I've never looked at Video Archiver, I guess I should. You could span the drives, but that limits you to local drives only. Drive spans over a few TB take forever to chkdsk, should that ever happen. You lose some reliability spanning drives. The main point of my "argument" is that adding multiple recording locations would make the software more flexible for situations that we may not have even thought of yet ( SAN/NAS configurations, homebrew storage LAN, iSCSI etc.. ).

But as always, it's just a suggestion and a "it would be nifty to me, who knows about general acceptance or usefulness" idea.

I'm bumping this request. Beyond TV just added drive spooling. Sage has had it forever. It's a better option than drive spanning or video archive.

Excellent. I think it would be a very welcome addition to a lot of folks.
