This was a well known bug with the nvidia video card drivers. It affected other applications aswell. The work arounds were to either disabled hardware acceleration in the video decoder, or switch to VMR9 Custom renderer.

With the new PVRX2 interface in 1.0.8, its always uing VMR9 Custom so you dont get this problem.

I had no idea that it was a known bug - thought it was just my machine. So chalk up another improvement to the new interface!

In 97.12 when I selected my PVR350 as the hardware decoder device, I couldn't watch live tv on my pc (got a black screen, it was going tvout so I had to choose software decoding), but with pvrx2.exe I can!

Really great, thanks.

Sorry, I cant help you with that one. I dont know anything about how this utility works. Your best bet is to post a question in the plugin forum.

Hi Sub,

I don't know if this has been previously reported, but we discovered this one the hard way.

If the volume is lowered to zero, and the button is held, the sound level immediately jumps to the maximum level. This occurs in both GB-PVR and X2.

The problem occurs when playing Live TV or previous recordings using either the left-right arrow buttons or the volume buttons on the Hauppauge remote. These are set to control Master Volume.

I just opened my config file to confirm the settings and when I restarted GB, the problem went away. But, it returned after I started each of the two main programs several times.

If this is the case, what capture card would you recommend for this?

We use DirecTV but our homeowner's association has a deal with the cable company to provide basic cable service for free so I have it wired as a "backup" for those days when the rain is too intense for the satellite. Right now we are just brining the analog basic cable into a PVR150MCE but the HDTV signal is there also. (We had a master antenna system in the development when the cable company came in so they just used that as the backbone. As a result they have to provide all of us with basic cable at N/C.)
ASUS A7V880, Athlon XP 3000+, 1024MB, 250GB (Prog/DB), 40GB (Buffer/Temp), 670GB SATA (Video Library), PVR150MCE Video (2), NEC DVD+/- RW, Liteon DVD, nVidia FX5600 AGP, Onboard AC 97 Audio, Hauppauge Remote, Girder, USBUIRT,802.11G WLAN, nVidia Platinum Decoders
