Hi calling all Kiwi's

I have had a really bad time using revens xmltv scraper recently, to such a degree that I need to look for an alternative.
So thats my question is there an alternative way of getting EPG for Kiwi's if so what are they? I will even consider moving from sky to telstra (even freeview is possible as most of my recordings are on TV2 and TV3) if it means I get reliable EPG as without it my PVR becomes barely usable, its actually amazing how quickly the WAF and KAF disappears when the EPG doesnt work :-D
I need to recover a bad situation and quick, as I have a new TV coming tommorrow and I dont want the PVR to not get a set of inputs allocated on the new TV.

Cheers

Sorry, no better with Telstra - I use revens scraper as well.

I feel your pain though. I haven't heard of any problems with the freeview epg, but then I don't use it either.

Wow you were fast, truely Psycik :-D

So can we get the freeview EPG directly from the stream? I vaguely remember some rumblings about freeview and not being very verbose description. Currently I would settle for the show title :-)

Cheers

I think it can come from the stream. But not sure how far out it goes.

yes you can use freview for listings works fine but has a few gaps
i found that my analog tuners couldnt use the data from the dvb may have been me setting something wrong though
where as if i use revens i can use it on both analog and dvb
im still using revens its skys website that is the issue
you have to just keep starting revens manualy untill you get the data you want i sety it to 10 days then just sat their restarting it till it got the file size i wanted
but that was few weeks back

I dont think it can all be blamed on sky's website although they are certainly one of the main problems. I do not get data if I set it to use saturns site either and I have seen TV3 only once in the last month and thats only when I set TV3 on its own in my batch file. typically I get TV1, TV2 and Prime reliable anything else is hit n miss mainly miss. hence why I am interested in what else I can use untill revens v3 is made available.

Can you explain how you have your freeview set up I assume you have a DVB? which one?

Cheers

really nah i have missed tv3 and thats it for like 2 half days in last 6 months
and i think tv1 and 2 about the same

i would buy a hvr3000 if i was you then you get dvb-s and dvb-t
but i have avermedia a700 dvb-s
also have pvr 150 pvr500
and twinhan starboxII dvb-s (this for when i go away in my bus/motrhome laptop which i scored today for $50 p4 1.7ghz compaq very happy screen is stuffed but thats what i wanted as i have 3 screens running in the bus anyway sorry side tracked)

then i just set them all to xmltv including the dvb its lucky dip to what records what and prime is not on free view which sucks cause its a shit signal to
but if its down i go in and set the a700 to dvb grab (actually only done it once)

saturn has not worked for like 3 months
xmltvnz.exe tvguide.xml -days 10 tv1 tv2 sky_tv3 prime sky_C4

heres what i use when i have problems
i just sit there and restart it over and over till the file gets big enough
normally only have it set to 6 days
plus you have to empty the cach and the resources files
although you probably already do this i thought no harm in saying what i do

another problem is if it doesnt get the data but you have the days to grab set to high then next time it may already think its got the data and skips it thats why if it doesnt update deleting the cach file and resource file you can get the missing data

It would seem with the latest testing I am doing that PVRx2 may also be partly responsible for the issues I am experiencing.

I took a look at the pvrx2.exe.log after doing a EPG Update from the systray and I noticed that part way through listing the channels it found in the log it stops logging mid sentence!
I put the log flush option on and have this as the output still doesnt look like it is doing a complete EPG update to me. can someone do a comparison?

I also notice it is reading the TV shape incorrectly from the config.xml file it says 4:3 but I have it set to 16:9, confirmed by checking the config.xml file.

[EDIT] I have just checked 1.16 GBPVR and it sees the TVShape correctly as 16:9, Sub, are you aware of this one?
I dont want this distracting from my main issue which is trying to get working NZ EPG...

This is the typical behaviour when you have the log flushing disabled, and not something to worry about.
