It is possible that the cable company is also sending digital through the cable, at least mine does. Ask on the forums for your company, if it has one; try

If you do have digital, the best choice I have found is the Silicondust HDHomeRun. You will find a lot of info on it here and the Silicondust forum. It works great with GB-PVR. It is an external box that connects via your router, so it does not require a PCI card. I have used the ATI 550 and ATI 650 cards for analog, but much prefer the HDHomeRun now, though it is strictly digital. It is only the local channels that must be carried unencrypted. There may be additional ones unencrypted also, but it varies by cable company.

Just installed the new version over the weekend and I'm really impressed (even the wife is ;-). Installing was as easy as everand everything works as before. Thanks very much for the new user interface!

I played around with most of the functionality and disconvered a minor bug when I clicked one of the arrows in the lower-right corner of the music screen. It crashed the program. Tonight, I'll try again and write down the exact message and copy the logs.

Finally, a small wish for further improvement. I would like it when the arrows indicate whether there are more items to be shown. The arrows could be greyed out or not shown when clicking them is pointless.

Thanks again. I can't say enough how much I like GB-PVR!

I totally missed that. How stupid of me. Will try it out tonight. Thanks for pointing it out.

I've tried installing and re-installing several times but I still haven't found an MVP Server. With the old version (pre v1.0.08) it was obvious and opened automatically (in its own little window)so can someone explain to me what I should be looking for?

MVP server service name has been changed to PVRX2 with this (and future) releases. It threw me for a loop, too, until I realized what was going on.

Also, you do know that you can get rid of the MVP server window by configuring the service to NOT interact with the desktop (Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, double-click on "GBPVR Recording Service", and then under the Log On tab uncheck "Allow service to interact with desktop"). I have two MVPs, so having two windows pop up like that was a bit annoying, especially since I do not have a dedicated HTPC.

I hope this helps you.

Also, like the previous reply, you really should upgrade to the latest version, as a lot of little quirky things were fixed and it's just more of a complete conversion to the new interface.

GBPVR system info intentionally left blank because I'm personally
insulted that you can't remember it from previous signatures.

Sub, I've waded through the posts, and the wiki, but can't find a specific comment - are you explicitly saying that the PVR-350 is no longer supported on the new version?

If so, I may need to accelerate my plans to build a new machine...

The PVR350 is still works as a capture device, but the PVR350 tv out feature is not available in the new PVRX2 user interface.

I assume you mean "not available" ?
