Yeah, losing zap2it has screwed me over for good.

I'm still running ver. 0.96 and using software recorder plugin for GB-PVR. Problem is I don't want to go to the latest version because Software-Recorder plugin doesn't work to the best of my knowledge. I tried going to 1.0 awhile back but the plugin refused to work, so I went back to 0.96.

I had my tuner for 3 years never been used alot until GB-PVR came into my life.

I loved having 1 week of epg data.

Now that I'm losing zap2it in the next 2 weeks, there doesn't seem to be alternative for my setup. I don't have money to drop on a new tuner and no EPG data services that I can setup for my current version.

Blah!

So... Thanks SUB for all your help in the past, it was truly the best FREE PVR Software that I ever used.

I don't know what I can do from here on.
Who knows...
I might go BeyondTV route because I know their software supports my tuner.

*cries*
The end is near...

I guess you could use XMLTV (see http://xmltv.org/wiki/) to get your EPG from SchedulesDirect. That's what I plan to do since I'll stay with 99.12 for a while.

you can still get epg data...just like everyone else will be...no difference there..
it's always supported the xmltv data..no difference now except for the source of it.
where are you located?

and the software recorder DOES work with 1.0x.....both pvrx2 and gbpvr.exe :p
check instructions at end of the forum for how to do it..
i use it on my test machine with 1.0.16 Big Grin
copy your config-recorders.xml before updating, to make things easier..
and use ati encoders...they work fantastic...

Yes the software recorder should work - the graphRecorder still works as well.

Might I reccomend my app:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/YApi2XML
or any of the other ones:
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Manual/EPG

Because they all output xmltv files which ver 0.96 can probably use out of the box.

Yeah but I already know beyondTV works with my tuner because in my search for my homebuilt dvr, I was trying all kinds of software including sageTV and mediaportal. I hated sageTV because it was just too goofy and a bit hard to use and mediaportal wasn't mod friendly and didn't like my tuner. Then I tried beyondTV trial and everything worked flawlessly but was shock to see a 69$ price tag.

Are you sure? Because I don't remember which version it was, but I do remember it was over 1.0. Perhaps I was being a dumbass and was using an old version of softRec plugin with the 1.0 release. I don't remember but I will try again later.

Yay! theres still hope!

I will try the yahoo plugin next month when I have some time to upgrade and remove stuff from my pvr.

Having 14 days of data seems too good to be true tho.

My subscription for zap2it doesn't run out til October, so I still have some time.... I hope.

Thank you guys for giving me some ideas and helping me. I really appreciate it.

Your Zap2it WILL END at the END OF THIS MONTH. Ignore what your subscription status says. You don't have much time, but the xmltv feeds are easy to set up, only a few minutes if all goes well Wink

Thanks for the heads up, I wasn't sure.

Anyways I'm going to install the yahoo grabber but do I need to do an EPG dump and get rid of zap2it stuff?

You set up the xmltv files as part of the capture source. You will need to change from zap2it to your xml file and then do an empty epg and then reload it.

I will be adding notes to the general EPG page on adding an XML source that is generated from a grabber like Yahoo.

Should be easy for you, and then there's all us bright shining faces to help you...Rolleyes
