I just installed GameZone and am using it in PVRX2 1.0.16.

I have winLIRC running to IRex. Technically IRex just sends keystrokes.

I can easily get the emulator to run but can't get it to exit.

I assume i have to send the "." to GBPVR and since mine just sends keystrokes it is technically sending them to the emulator.

Also, has anyone set their remote up to operate the emulator menus? I would love to be able to save states and stuff from the remote and assumed since irex just sent keystrokes it would do that but it doesn't. Has anyone done it with HIP or Girder?

Any advice would be great.

P.S. Can't wait for this to work with the new UI Smile

Mine used to work. Haven't checked it in a while. I had to use an external program to delay the toggle time of the key to get mame and wsnes to see them. The keys were too fast without it and it would miss most of them.

Pastro's correct timing is crucial to IR control here. I spent far too many nights trying to get this reliable and eventually moved on Sad

As fo new UI, it may be a while as I have three NGN products to get out into production in the next month so really busy...

Cheers

Good to know. I guess I'll start playing with HIP and maybe setup my remote to have a separate setting for gaming Smile

I use an external program that takes the keystrokes from the remote and puts them o u t r e a l l y s l o w l y.

I don't think it will help you but if you want I can post it.
Once I had this in my irremote.ini it worked perfectly with the other programs.

I use my Hauppague remote (irremote.ini) to map my "Back/Exit" key to Alt+F4 for my emulators.

However, this doesn't work for some emulators (like ZSNES). It has something to do with DirectInput. So you have to map the remote button to call a utility called SimKey, which simulates a DirectInput event. See http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?...#entry2431 to get SimKey utility and example.

So for ZSNES I've got Back/Exit mapped to quit, the 0-9 buttons mapped to select save states 0-9, Record button mapped to Save, and Play button mapped to load. Works great!

Looks like simkey is now only available for purchase. Does anyone have a known working way to close the mame window with the hauppage remote? Everything works properly other than I have to VNC into the machine to push Esc to kill mame and get back to the gamezone menu.

I just went to the site, registered and downloaded simkey no problem!

I would like to get a remote control option that works for MCE better than we have currently, AFAIK Hauppauge has this working by manipulating irremote.ini

I will post if I get a stable suitable solution, hopefully you will too if you beat me to it Big Grin

Cheers
