http://www.epgtools.com/gb_devs/Grabbers...-10061.zip

Replace the current MceEpgDownloader.exe with the one in the zip.

I've tried and I have the same error. If I let the GUI working alone with the GBPVR EPG update, I have the same error but it did the download, the convert and the EPG update. So if I want it to use it without any error I have to disable the error reporting in the windows config.

It should not be giving an error now. Can you run it from the command line and post the output with the error? Don't redirect to a log file.

Can it be MCE 2002 the problem?
Sorry I really have a MCE2005 version

Yup, that would be it. This is only tested on MCE 2005.

I can build it without the ATSC detection but I'm still not sure it will work.

If you configure and download a guide in the MCE UI, does MceEpg2XmlTv.exe work?

I think it's working
C:\EPG>mceepgdownloader list-headends

2007-08-30 21:05:35 - - Connecting.
2007-08-30 21:05:37 - - Downloading.
2007-08-30 21:05:39 - - Complete.

It's not working. You can kill it. It should have listed your providers.

This means that they changed the names of the event handlers between 2002 and 2005 editions. They also did that between the 2005 and Vista editions.

Until I can get a copy of 2002 to play with, I probably won't be able to create a downloader that works on it. It would depend more on IF I can get a copy than WHEN I'm afraid.
