I've also put pretty detailed instructions (including what if you have the most common problem) in the yapi2xml wiki: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/YApi2XML

Zehd if you want to move or use those directions on the main EPG page feel free. or if we want to make a sepearte how to use xmltv page then we can all just point to that.

Looks like the yahoo plugin does not work. It get my channel line up but it will not provide EPG data for the channel lineup in gb-pvr. I set the setting to xmltv and told it to get the .xml file from the yahoo folder.

I'm screwed.

Lost hope.

Everyone panic!

I don't know what the problem is, I did everything you guys said and the instructions on the wiki page. When I go to the tv guide there is no epg data, and the line up is all screwed up.

any idea?

Well I thought I would give the 1.2.0 version of the yahoo grabber and it worked fine. *Was trying to use 1.1.9* But now I'm unsure if the UpdateEPG.bat is working, I don't want to find out the hard way in 14 days when it can't get a new schedule. It is in gbpvr directory and I did edit the .bat to point to where the yahoo grabber is with quotes.

How can I test it?

When GB-PVR starts an EPG update, it calls the UpdateEPG.bat and waits for it to complete before it tries to import the data.

When GB-PVR does it, it hides the batch file, and you won't notice it is running. In theory, the GUI should show up, unless Oz hasn't written show window code into it (the mce grabber will show itself)

To test if the UpdateEPG.bat is working, just double-click on it. It should run and you should also see the grabber doing its stuff...

Code:
“c:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Third Party\yapi2xml\yapi2xml.exe” update

So long as it runs and completes when you manually run it, then it should work just fine when GB-PVR runs it...

BTW, you may notice the path in the statement... Do you have GB-PVR and the yahoo tool in their default paths?
Make sure you have this line in the UpdateEPG.bat:
Frank Z

I used to ask 'why?' Now I just reinstall...

Hehe, I haven't made it show itself so you won't really know that way. Although I may add it now.

The other way to know is double click updateepg.bat, let it run, and then go to the yapi2xml directory and read the log, it'll tell you what time it ran and if it was successful.

Also, the reason it wasn't working was yahoo was remaking a lot of the lineups because all of a sudden full files exist for people who didn't have them before.

I guess 1.2.0 is broken, it won't leave a config file behind for shit. I restart the machine and its gone. I do it again and made sure I hit save setting click the X, restart the machine because I'm remoting to it. Its gone again.

Apparently hitting "Save Settings" doesn't do shit.

Its pissing me off.

[SIZE="4"]EDIT:[/SIZE]

Screw it, I think windows Xp is dead on this machine, because I would delete a folder in Program Files, reboot the machine and it comes back magically.

I'm going to wipe and reload.

There is definitely a problem with the settings in 1.2.0 and the fix will be released soon, i'm cramming as many fixes into it as I can, so probably an hour to 90 minutes at the most till i release it. It does sound like windows has "frozen" the drive though so that is interesting.

Edit: The update is out: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Utility/YApi2XML

Yeah I give up, its not worth the trouble. Basically I wasted 5 hours restoring my pvr only to arrive at the same problem. Turns out you can't delete the devnz folder, even tho theres nothing in it. It just can't be deleted, but oh well I wasted all that time.

Anyways screw yahoo, its not reliable at all.

I blame yahoo servers for this.
I get this now,
Error: Schedule file is corrupted or *something to that extent*. Will retry in 5 seconds.

I blame the grabber for this.
The updateEpg.bat doesn't work so no auto-pilot for gb-pvr

I blame sub for making the devnz folder invincible.

I blame my stupidity on a wipe and reload thinking that the config file couldn't be written to disk therefore the updateEPG.bat couldn't find the config file giving me the error "no provider configured" connecting the dots to the invincible devnz folder assuming something was wrong with windows xp itself.

Luckily for me I only reload windows on a separate drive therefore a simple swap out of drives I could go back to the old one with my old setup, in short terms no data loss.

But I still arrive back at step one with only 3 days left before my zap2it runs out.

Well this blows balls.

I'm not dumb and I don't want to uninstall gbpvr, this is my gbpvr directory right now "C:\Program Files\gbpvr\"

The installer to install gbpvr, creates a folder called devnz. Its been hardcoded into the registry so it can't be deleted and if it is deleted, windows just creates a new folder and renames it to devnz.

I'm too tired tonight to mess with it anymore.
