Don't even bother deleting...

Do this:

Download latest GUI (includes utils) Install. Use default location (especially for discussion purposes)

Open GUI. Click Configure. Click Get Providers. Did the dropdown list populate?

Is your HeadEnd ID in the list on the right? If not, select your headend from the dropdown, click add and it should be in the list...

Is your Zip/Postal code right? Country? Change as necessary...

Now, make sure Fresh Download is checked, and click Download listings.

A minimized console window with start. Restore it and watch the download.

When it's done, it will start a new console for the Exporter. You'll have to Restore that too. You should see something like, x of y channels increase...

When that works, then we can move onto the next step...

Verify that the guide is working in MCE and that you can update the EPG.

What do you mean updating needs to be done. Does that mean that Windows MCE 2005 would like to update from WindowsUpdate? If so, oh yeah, do it...

If it means the MCE EPG needs to be updated, it's possible that the Firewall is preventing MCE from downloading programming data

I just noticed you said the installer gave an error. Are you running MCE 2002 or 2005? Also, make sure you have all the .Net 2.0 updates installed.

Aside from .net and stuff, do you let your windows update automatically? Do you ever visit WindowsUpdate?

There is something wrong with your computer that may be out our grasp. If the installer won't succeed, there's no sense doing a manual install as the symptoms will still persist. the installer and the utilities are using the same programming language...

(If it were just the GUI, that may be different as its written in a different programing language...)

I would confirm Windows has been updated with all the 'critical updates' and most 'Recommended'...

How does GB-PVR run on the PC (not MVP)? OK?
