Function to provide more info on playing video?

Is there a method to provide the type of information that's displayed when you play a recording?

If you play a recording, instead of seeing the filename on the OSD, you see the title, and description.

Is there a way to provide that information to gbpvr when you start playing a video from a plugin?

My searching for these methods has not been successful to date.

Can someone point me to methods or properties to get this title and description information within a plugin - and is there a similar one to get the similar details for the currrent playing TV item and scheduled recordings, or do I need to query this from the database?

All I've been able to find so far is a way to retieve the file name, or TV channel name and number (eg through IEventNotification / Notify )
