Hi

I notice that the news reader is no longer to be found in the 1.0.16 version of this fantastic piece of software. I just upgraded from 0.99 to the newest version. Tried to install the RSS plugin, but it doesnt function.

Its a pitty, I just love to lie down on the sofa and zap through the latest news when I come home from work.

Does anybody know of a solution to this?? Otherwise I'll downgrade again.

Does it work with the 1.0.16 gbpvr exe and just not the pvrx2.exe?

I miss this one terribly as well as the webcams plugin. Like you, I used to check the news and then check on the traffic cams.

Frankly I miss the OLD GBPVR...it was fine, but sacrificed for a flashy interface. So many great plugins now no longer work, and it's difficult to find "how tos" to get them to work in any one place.

I just tried it to see and it works for me in 1.0.16 PVRX2 and GBPVR. I did recomplle it but I doubt that made any difference. Since this is a GBPVR app you need to put the dll in gbpvr/plugins and make a copy and put it somewhere like gbpvr/plugins/legacy

I didn't use this before, but did it show up in the next recording panel also? That won't work on PVRX2 at the moment.

Hmm, I just tried that and lost all my third party plugins.

Thye're still in the directory, but none of them show up in config, or o the menus in either interface.

ARRARARAGGGGGGG!HHHHH!!!!!

I also missed the RSS reader a lot, I usually check the news every night. I rolled back to Gb-pvr 99.12 for that reason ony.
However today I managed to run the RSS reader in gb-pvr 1.0.16 on my test PC.
As already suggested earlier by Pastro, you need to move some of the files.
The two XML files should be in the gb-pvr\plugin folder
In the plugin folder you create a new folder, I called it "RSS". In that folder you put the NewsPlugin.dll file
It works perfectly fine via MVP, but directly from the PC, once I am in the News reader menu I cannot get back to the main menu via teh "Esc" button. In only use MVP, so for me that is no problem.

I had that problem also on one machine and not on another. Also on the box that has troubles programming from the guide locks up with the RSS plugin loaded as does searchwiz. Removing the rss plugin fixed this. The source is available so when I get some time (I'm working on a different plugin right now) I'll take a look.

If you do, I'll be glad to test it or help in any (nonprogramming) capacity I can.

I think I have about 1-2 weeks of work ahead of me for the plugin I'm working on. After that, if no one else looks at it before then, I'll take a look
