I'd like to burn some shows as DVDs for my father to watch, but they'd need closed captions available on DVD playback. How to do this? I'm not certain that it is possible.

As an alternative, he has an iBook, is there a way to do the playback with captions from the mpeg?

If there is a way I record the live video containing CCs on the PC (as in, play the video with captions in a gbpvr window, record the gbpvr window with the captions display via _some_windows_utility_ then send him a CD with mpg video containing hard-coded captions) I'm interested in that as a last resort, although it's a lot more time-intensive on my part.

Thanks!

If you recorded from the 350 with cc enabled, then the CC is already stored in the MPG. I know for a fact that TMPGENC Dvd Author will leave the cc intact when converting the mpg to DVD. Then, when playing this dvd on a standalone player, the CC will show up on the tv (CC PassThru) as long as the TV can display CC.

I wasn't paying attention earlier in the thread; there are posts about both srt subtitle files and cc information (USA). I'm more interested in cc info right now, since that's how it comes here in the US and I do have captions kept inon the 350 (srts are mostly on DVDs I guess? how does the rest of the planet do it for analog TV captioning?)

Anyway- the srt tools are great to know about, I do have a use for that. I can't locate srt2mpg via google of that name or permutations though?

I'll try the trial of TMPGENC DVD Author; not the cheapest, but if it is a 1-click solution... I'll try Nero 7 deluxe, too.

Thanks for the posts!
