There's something I want to record on CBBC but I'm never around when it's transmitting so can't get the Config app. to pick it up and add it to the list of channels.

I tried to hack the GB-PVR DB to use the details for BBC Three but then I remembered the Video and Audio PID information is different.

I'm not sure if the tuning info will be the same for all of the UK so if anyone in the Crystal Palace area has recently done a channel scan during the day, I'd be grateful if they'd post the tuning information for CBBC. The easiest way would be to cut and paste from one of the Scan-X.cache files.

Cheers,
Brian

I'm not down your way, but can you decode it from this table?

Ouch - just noticed the date.

Thanks Martin. I've seen that table before but couldn't remember the link.

It looks like the AV PIDs are actually the same as BBC Three but it's the PMT ID which is different. I've tweaked the DB and set a test recording for tomorrow morning to see if it works.

What versions are you guys using? I recently installed 1.0.16 - PVRX2 and after I mapped my channels I found I had everything - even Teacher's. I do a complete reload every night at 4:00am.

See Martin's sig for his version Wink .

As for me - yes 1.0.16. The issue isn't with EPG updates - this is with mapping the channels. The Config app. ignores anything which doesn't have a video PID when you do a channel scan (this is the reason you won't see any of the DVB-T radio channels listed).

When CBBC (or Cbeebies, BBC Three or BBC Four etc.) are off air, they don't broadcast the AV elementary streams. As such, if I did a rescan of any of my DVB-T tuners at the moment, CBBC and CBeebies wouldn't be listed (so I can't map them). If I scan during the day before BBC Three/Four start broadcasting, they wouldn't be listed.

Once the channel is in the setup, if you use the DVB EPG option, you can get listings any time of the day or night. The listings aren't related to the channels' current broadcast state.

My problem occured because I hadn't previously had CBBC in my line-up and I haven't been around during broadcast times to do a rescan to add it to the list.

Brian

Thanks for a very elegant and informative response Wink

I don't suppose I could get DVB-T Radio channels by adding them manually - could I? Big Grin

Hmm...well...I think I went off on a bit of an auto-babble there (now I've re-read it) but that's kind of what I meant (with more words). Smile

I'm not sure on the current version of GB-PVR. At one time, the scan would pick up the DVB-T radio channels and it was possible to set manual recordings - I remember someone mentioning this in the past. I don't think it was possible to play the recordings with GB-PVR, as they were actually MPEG-2 files but with only the audio stream and playback would fail. I seem to remember somone used to transcode the files to extract the audio.

I'm not sure but I think the recording would actually fail with this (or recent) version(s).

One of these days I'll adapt some of my own code for recording DVB-T radio and make it into a plugin - it'll probably be the week before sub adds it as a standard feature. Rolleyes

Not at all... When someone asks me a question, I answer it but always try to give them a bit more all round - it usually puts off the next stupid question... :o

If you need any testers... Wink
