Yersterday I played around a bit with the config.xml and I found some settings in there that cannot be edited using the config application. I was wondering whether this is intentional...

Anyhow, some of the settings are quite useful so they might be interesting for other people out there:

* <AutoPlayDVDs> will automatically start playing a DVD when one is inserted while GBPVR is running; works in GBPVR and PVRX2
* <TVGuideVisibleMinutes> can be used to make more that the default two hours visible in the TV guide; useful for large display with high resolutions. only works in GBPVR
* <MenuLayout> can be used to change the ordering of the main menu items. works in GBPVR and works somewhat in PVRX2 (is not entirely predictable)
* <TVGuideChannelHeaderType> can be used to select how to show the channel in the TV guide. Options are 0 (icon + name), 1 (nr + name), 2 (name only). Unfortunately, there's no icon only mode, although this could be achieved by tweaking the skin. Seems to work only for PVRX2.
* <ExitOnEsc> will exit GBPVR when ESC is pressed in the main menu; only works in GBPVR.
* <OverScanBorder...> can be used to draw a black border around GBPVR, if your TV-out signal is 'cropped' by your TV; works in GBPVR and PVRX2.

There are of course more options, but these I found of general interest.

Disclaimer: be careful when editing the config.xml by hand; you could screw up your installation. Be sure to make a backup before you start experimenting.

I should point out that this config.xml setting can be edited in the config app. See the plugins tab. You can drag and drop the menu items, and the info is saved to the <MenuLayout> tag.

My fault, I never tried the dragging and dropping :o .

BTW: How does PVRX2 deal with the MenuLayout. I know that the first item is the defaukt one upon startup, but the others I can't seem to get the way I would like to. For instance, swapping two entries (DVD and Exit) does not seem to have any effect. Is Exit treated specially?

Exit is a special case which is added last.

I can understand this for GBPVR, but in PVRX2 it thus ends up above the first item (which is not where I would like it).

I understand that you automatically insert it at the end when you read in the configuration at startup of GBPVR. Would it be an idea to move this functionality to the config application, so that it is always written at the end. For the normal user there would be no difference, but for stubborn guys like me there would be an opportunity to manually override the location of Exit. Just my 2 cents...

Sub, I'm amazed by the time you spend on this forum during your holiday Wink . It is much appreciated, but are you having a good time Big Grin ?

It is at the end, it's just that the menu loops!

Same here Smile

I expect sub will put back the loop=false option (or at least I hope so).

I have no problem with the looping... it's just that I would like the Exit at the opposite end of the loop from the default.

For instance, suppose you have 6 entries in the menu, the first being the default. I would want the exit to be in the fourth position, so that it is always two scrolls away (read: furthest) from the default.

Sorry, you'll just have to live with it for now.
