I KNOW Sub doesn't do radio....

But there are a lot of us out here who do - if Sub doesn't have time to do it then maybe there is someone who could help out with the coding...?

Anyway...
I have played with DVB-T radio and it is almost there.
I manually added a DVB-T radio station to the channels / Source mapping tables. It played fine as 'live tv' (with a black screen obviously!), recorded with ^k & played back through 'recordings' OK. The mpg file also played in windows media player. The file was about 6MB for 5 minutes so 72MB / hour which seems OK. The EPG was even populated for the channel!

So it would seem straightforward to allow radio channels to be found on the scan and used through 'live tv' (I did find an option in config.xml something like 'ignoreradiochannelsonscan' but it didn't have any effect!).

As an extension we could have a DVB-T radio button (or integrate ALL radio feeds under one button?), but possibly better / more flexible would be to treat radio and TV channels as a separate 'groups' within the EPG and 'Live TV' so you would view just radio or just TV channels (or all channels if you wanted to!), An simple extension to this would allow other (user defined?) groups to be setup (eg Kids, Factual, Soaps) to save scrolling thorugh 70-100+ channels to fund the on you want!

At least in the UK a lot of the national radio stations (all the BBC national ones) are available through DVB-T so this might reduce the clamour for FM radio support!

(now I'm going to hit SAVE this time...!)

I've seen a few threads on DVB-T radio in the past, but they've all been a bit iffy... Still I always figured it was possible but never got round to trying it... Then I saw this post - decided to have a go myself - 15 mins and a quick visit to LYNGSAT for a logo and bugger me if i'm not sitting listening to 'The Iain Anderson Show' on BBC Radio Scotland through an MVP...

I haven't tried recording yet or thought about any of the other implications... don't fancy hand-coding all the radio channels in to the DB everytime I need to do a channel reload for instance...

However, thanks to djmuk for the encouragement Big Grin

why don't you poke around the sqlite db? create one channel manually, take a look around the db, extract the channel date with a batchfile into a flat text file (see here about how to do something like that from batch), edit that textfile to add the channels you want/need in addition & reimport the data back again using some batch. that way you have the channel data saved & can recreate it after channel reload Wink
oh, i've forgot the obviuos: share that batch & channel data (with location info) for other users Big Grin
ps: i'm not among these other users, they don't broadcast DVB-T radio here Sad

How many channels have you tuned? what is the play quality like?

I've done half a dozen and some of them are fine... others are bit jerky.

Any other DVB-T users looked at this... Smile

just a thought: have you tried some other software to find the correct channels/freqs? you should get them clear on the right freq

I used TSReaderLite to get the channel info... although, my transmitter (Angus) is mostly just a repeater for Durris, so a lot of the detail info refers to Durris - so I need to check again.

Could also be a typo though - All the channels on 1 mux are fine - all the channels on another mux are jerky...

Think it might be to do with the bit rate. How does Talksport compare with the BBC stations? Talksport uses a lower bit rate.

Thanks

I would love to get this working.

What version are you usuing, I have yet to update from 98.13b.

How do you do that ?

What software are you using to scan for radio channels ?

I played about with DVB Radio a short time ago but didn't get very far. I will try again.
Thanks

talkSPORT is fine. I've tuned in at least one radio channel from each mux (except mux 2 which don't carry radio) and I only have problems with mux B (all stations) so I'm going to remove all the mux B radio channels and start again with them. It's a typo for sure... :o
