Because of the Release 1.0 of GBPVR, I bought a used Ati Radeon 9600 from Saphire. This is a VMR9 Card. I installed the card with the delivered driver cd and it worked with VMR9.
After using the card for a while I recognized a stuttering every second while playing an avi file, so I tried to download the latest catalyst driver from ati. I installed the driver and try to start GBPVR, but GBPVR tells me that the card is not a VMR9 card. Does someone know why?
Unfortunatelly the stuttering of the avi files is still there.

Greats from germany

At last another user of GBPVR has the same problem that i do. I am using a ATI HD2400Pro AGP card and have the exact same problem!

I can only assume that it is a driver issue. what version of Catalysts Control Center works for you?

Not sure whether this is linked. My son has a 9600 too. I installed last week the 7.9 version and several games did not fuction any longer with similar error messages. Uninstalling and installing the 7.5 version (I just too an older one without a particular reason for which version) and all games were happy again.

I did not test the same with GBPVR on his PC unfortunately. Maybe worth a try.

I've always preferred ATI cards but the Catalyst drivers are terrible, they dump way too much garbage on your system. The Omega 3rd party drivers are much better in my opinion. I don't know what version of those I am running. A quick look on the ATI website shows the most recent driver is 7.1 but if you go to the previous versions link it is showing the others. Maybe they realized there are problems...

I returned to Catalist 7.7 and everything works again fine. It seems that Ati drivers are as good (or bad) as the hauppauge drivers :o)

Thanks for the help

I've taken to installing only the ATI drivers without the Control Center. It seems to drag the system down, and the Windows configuration setup seems to do OK for me without the extra overhead. Just my two cents (as little as it's worth outside the U.S. nowadays! Wink)
