I will happily write a small utility to dump a MovieWiz database to filename.xml (which NPVR supports and is better than mymovies.xml if files aren't held in separate folders), once NPVR is out of beta, for people we convert to NPVR , and don't try and run in dual mode, if JavaWiz doesn't provide a MovieWiz first I will need for someone to send me their database first.

Nice!
I can send you my db, if needed, when the time comes then.

A question; How should a filename.xml be constructed for NPVR to be able to read it?
And is it possible to use more than one or use it with ordinary folders?

It can be the same format as mymovies.xml but just the filename changed.

As I have said, I have my movies in various folders and not really sorted at all.
I do not think that the support for meta files help me for this problem, or am I wrong?
All my movies have metadata files now, (both mymovies.xml and [movietitle].nfo) so the remaining problem is to get them sorted somehow.
I tried to create a folder with windows shortcuts to the folders where the movies are, but npvr does not read those.

Is here another way I can create a xml-file, link or shortcut so Videos library handles all various folders as one?

I haven't used Windows 7 much, but isn't there a way to create a "library" type of virtual folder with it? (Opening the virtual folder would show you the files located in various other folders that you configure). I seem to recall reading about that feature but I'm not sure if it would be able to pass the filenames to NPVR. Perhaps that would be an option?

That was i good idea, but it didn't work. The virtual library can not be added as a media folder (and does not show the contents as one folder).

But I started searching and found a software that could have helped me; VirtualDisk. But it seems to be a discontinued product and is not possible to order.
Anyone who knows another software that does similar tasks?

Have you had a look at ntfs-linker? Somwhere on the gbpvr-support forum I think...

Thanks!
That got me in the right direction. The NTFS linker seems to be designed to move files first and then leave a link to the file in question. I already have them scattered. But the tip led me to the tool Link Shell extension that does the task I need.

I have just tried it a little but it seems promising. I can create a folder with Junctions or symbolic links to the original folders that I can use in NPVR.

When you get it all sorted, can you make a simple guideline for the rest of us to follow? Smile
