Hi All,

Reading through I see the MVP has various functionality similar or superior to the original software. Does anyone have a full list of all the functions?

I really liked the 10%, 20% etc jump function of Hauppage's software. Is something similar available on GBPVR?

It does almost everything gbpvr would do on a computer.
except:
- It won't play dvd's, there are some work arounds, but afaik not very simple ones.
- It only plays mpg's, so to play avi's, they have to be transcoded to mpeg. This can be done during watching it as long as your system is powerful enough (~> 2Ghz). But it won't let you ff or skip forward then.

You can skip through shows by entering the amount of minutes you want to skip followed by ok/enter.

I think that's about it, I'm sure I forgot something but someone else will probably add that info.

It does for me so long as your processor is fast enough to transcode ahead of the current position.

I kinda like jumping around video using the numbers and I do plan on trying to fake this in mvpmc by using the file size and bitrate and converting it to seconds for a jump.

For menus I don't find the numbers an important difference because many more filenames are presented at once and paging isn't that bad when the media is organized.

Excellent, something for me to try.

So when playing a film on the TV via MVP , how can I jump forward or back? You say typing in the number of mins and pressing Enter?

Pressing the skip keys will jump forward/back 60 seconds by default. If you want to jump more than this, then you can prefix it with the number of minutes. For example, if you want to jump 25 minutes ahead, then pres 25-skip. Same story for the skip back (replay) button.

My music folder has about 150 folders listed. Scrolling through them takes a while... Using the numbers with the Hauppauge software is definitely quicker at helping me find something. Smile

Sorry my mistake, I said x mins-enter, ofcourse it's x mins-skip.:o

I much prefer GB-PVR's method of allowing a number of minutes entered to skip. With that, I can easily jump to any part of a show, even something like 60%, just by entering the right number of minutes. With Hauppauge's method, you are more limited and can't just jump ahead 2 minutes to skip commercials or something. Basically, GB-PVR offers a superset of skipping ability.
