if it's really the PSU or MB causing the interference (easiest way to check: stick your card in another computer, if it behaves the same, your card is most probably faulty) an USB capture device might be your only option...

Hi,

I'm planning on building a DVR with Dell Pentium IV 2.0GHz, 1GB RAM Desktop, and I'm looking at hauppauge TV cards.

1) Is PVR-500 is the only on with dual tuners? or are there any other USB tuners with dual tuners?
2) Does hauppauge USB tuners offer hardware encoding?
3) which is better PCI or USB? By reading this thread it seems like both woks fine. In that case if I can find a USB dual tuner I might go for that since USB tuners are cheaper in ebay rather than PVR-500.

Thanks in advance Big Grin

No, I dont think so.

It depends which USB device you're talking about. The Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 has hardware MPEG2 encoding. Most of their other USB products do not.

Thanks for the reply.
My PC is a Dell Precision 340 Mini-Tower Computer and this is the back panel. As you can see there is a line out in built in sound card.
How can I connect this single lint out to the Audio Left and Audio Right in the TV?

radioshack or similar would carry the type of cable you need. 3.5mm plug on one end, with 2xRCA connector on the other.

Adaptec makes (made?) a unit called the AVC-3610 that has two tuners, hardware MPEG-2 encoding, USB 2.0. It was also sourced to HP for an identical unit under the HP label. According to answers I received on this forum, the tuners can be made to work with GBPVR but the IR blasters (for controlling cable /satellite boxes) may not.
