I have several DVDs that are foreign language and require subtitles for me to understand what is being said. Is there a setting to have the subtitles displayed when converting the DVD to mpeg?

Sorry Elbryyen,
I am really unaware of such software which could display the subtitle while converting to the DVD to Mpeg.

videohelp.com is a great resource for questions like this. The subtitle files need to be ripped from the DVD & saved as an .srt text file (separate from the mpeg file, but with the same name) and use vobsub to view it with your mpeg movie. I've done it a few times, and it works pretty well.

I think AutoGK and AutoMKV do this. Check them out on www.dvdrhelp.com. Atogk is the simpler one of the 2 I think, but you have to do the testing yourself. Let us know how you get along.

Not sure if this will work for you. Try a program called mpg2srt. http://www.htpctools.com/mpg2srt/
Drop the mpg file on it and see if it yields the subtitle file
