Live TV okay. No sound in recordings.

I've been using GB-PVR for a couple of years now, but I just had to do a fresh install when my old PC died.

OS:
Vista
Tuners:
Hauppauge 150
Hauppauge 500 (which has two tuners)

When watching Live TV, everything comes out fine. When playing back a scheduled recording, there is no Audio. I'm at a lost as to where to troubleshoot first.

What audio decoder do you have selected on the playback tab of the config app?

My two options are "Use Windows Default" and "MPEG Decoder" (or something similar). It doesn't seem to make a difference which I use.

Additional debug info:

- If I load the video file in Windows Media Player, it doesn't do audio.
- If I load it in VLC, it plays audio.

Here's the kicker:
- Any file I've played in VLC will then play with full audio in GBPVR, but only until I reboot.

It's obviously an audio codec issue, but while I am a tech-savvy person, this falls outside my area of expertise. I can't understand what VLC is doing to temporarily "fix" the codec, if only for the files I've played.

Yeah, definitely something funny to do with the audio set up of you machine. I'm not sure exactly what that would be though.
