hi i have an hauppauge hvr-1600 and an acer al2016w 20" lcd

when i have the analog cable plugged in to get cable tv, i have these lines that pass up my monitor. they go from bottom and move to the top, they run across the screen horizontally. ive used the card on a different pc and display so i know its not the tv card.

thanks

Do you have the ability to disconnect the VGA cable from the monitor? If your monitor allows you to do this, get a better shielded cable.

I would try attaching a cable with better shielding. I had the same issue and that solved it for me.

and make sure the co-ax is not running parallel to any mains cables or close to any transformers.

Back when I was on cable, I had a similar issue. It ended up being an 'inline connector' - not sure what it's called, but it connects 2 male coax ends. I unconnected both ends and reconnected them. It solved my problem for about a month. I got a new one from radio shack and didn't have the problem again.

well it does run under my circuit breaker, but there is no getting around it... as far as i know it's a direct line coming into my place here, but i am not 100% sure on that as there is another apartment in this building but i dont think that guy has cable. i got a different vga cable from a buddy, no idea if it is shielded, it doesn't say but it's definitly beefier than my cable that came with this acer lcd. kinda looks like it might be old school. the lines are still there just no as intense
