A couple of new backgrounds and task images

Again not exactly sure where to post this, but I've put together a few background images and a new set of task images. On McBainUk's suggestion they were done with the community skin in mind, but I thought I'd post them here for anyone who wants em'.

In the zip are a few backgrounds, the task images, a background mask and an edited mainmenus skin (basically to raise the task images alpha level). There is also a tvguide skin, to use it just copy the guide_mask.png into whatever _CoreImages folder you use. The only thing I will say is that I'm no code monkey so the edited xml files might be a little rough, they're kind of as is.

This is the first time I've ever done anything like this and I'm a complete amateur so any comments or suggestions would be great.

If you want them added to the CommunitySkin project PM fatman_do, as he's the one that creates the installer package. It looks like all the backgrounds and taskimages are already named close to the CS3 guidelines, so it should be a simple task.

Fantastic, I will include them in the official release. Thank you very much.

It should be published this weekend. I'll include a theme with your menu and one of the backgrounds, along with yellow selected text. Do you have a theme setup already? (ie, selectors and other background images). If you use bundled images, you can post your "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Plugins\SkinPlugin\CurrentTheme\Theme.xml" file and that will tell me all I need to know.

Anyone else willing to contribute, I will include all submissions in the official installation as soon as practical.

In addition..

The guide_mask.png is a cool idea. I consider myself "schooled" there. We used to have background images for timelines, but that went by the wayside (Or at least I had thought) under PVRX2.

Maybe we need to consider those again?

As I said I'm a real novice at this stuff, but I enjoy it and for me the quickest way to learn anything is to tinker around with a goal or purpose. After McBainUk suggested the community skin I thought I'd just try a few backgrounds and expand out the task images (man trying to think what symbol represents news or radio or any of them was a pain in the ass), post em' and see if anyone had any interest. So I didn't really put together a theme as such, I thought with the dizzying array of choices the community skin provides it'd be a little presumptuous to pick out which buttons or pop ups people would prefer, but if you give a few day I'm willing to give it a shot :p

The stuff that I've done is based on a skin I put together for my HTCP and it would be great if you'd have a look at that and maybe give me a few pointers on how to create a community skin theme from it, because as I've said before I like the graphics end of it and pretty much loath the editing XML files part.

Let me know if it's okay to send that theme.

I will be glad to help in any way. The "Theme.xml" file from the above post is the main element to a theme. It provides a road map for the skin plugin to find the images needed. All I would do is copy that file to "C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Plugins\SkinPlugin\Resources\Themes", rename it and place it in a sub-folder,and copy a preview image. That is all there is to it (as long as new images are included like you had.)

I think I'll have a stab at putting together a full theme, it may take me a few weeks though. So maybe hold off on including the bits and bobs until I've got something real together.

I do have one question already , Is the button spacing editable?

I know you said nevermind, but l am curious because the spacing in the main menu I don't think is editable yet under PVRX2 (Don't want you to go bonkers over that).
