I have a Compaq P-4 1.8Ghz, with two tuners in it and a 300GB HDD. GB-PVR 1.0.8, WinXP SP2 all patched up. I am using a Ge-Force4 MX video card (hard to find anything better that is low profile and TV out without spending a fortune).
I was disappointed with the CPU utilization when comskip was processing a file, GB-PVR was recording on the other tuner and I was playing back another.
I sieze the opportunity to get a Hauppage PVR-350 cheap because I thought the on-board MPEG decoder would offload the decoding from the CPU and GPU.
Anyhow, I reconfigured playback to use the hardware in GBPVR. Now when I go to play a video it says "Video is playing back using TV out". Damn. I don't want that - I don' want to switch between tv inputs to play from the menus in GBPVR. Seems I shouldn't have to do that though.
I thought that the card would provide a software interface to a hardware chip that would offload the MPEG decoding and allow better performance.
Any tips or pointers folks? What've I configured wrong? Do I need to adjust the software options for the device driver, or GB-PVR?
Thanks,
GP
