I haven't heard of any problems with XRecord and the Blue skin. I suspect the community skin needs a small update to become current with the latest XRecord.

I posted an update that pcostanza had decent results here..
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=32751&page=5 Prior to that update, there were just some formatting issues, no reports of crashing. I'll look at the logs. It sounds like he had a fresh install of the latest Xrecord, so I am confused here.

fla Wrote:I appologize if this is the wrong thread but somebody is having problems getting the Comminity Skin to work with the latest XRecord here. Does it work for everyone else? Can someone help him? I know next to nothing about the community skin. I am the "somebody" who is having the problems. To answer your question, the logs I posted in the other forum were not trimmed. Just now I tried to bring up XGuide and it crashed and I got the big red X filling the whole screen. The message in the popup error window for the Unhandled Exception is in the attached file. Hopefully that will have more useful information for you to look at.

If you need me to track it down in the debugger let me know and I'll install the community skin.

I have hesitated to do that because I don't want to lose all the program descriptions of recorded programs stored on my disk. I already went through that once when I added a disk drive just for storing GBPVR recordings to my PC. However, with there being SKIN and SKIN2 directories and COMMUNITY3 and BLUE skins and some plug-ins appearing with the BLUE skin but not the COMMUNITY3 skin, I haven't been sure whether GBPVR and its plug-ins have become spaghetti code or it has just gotten messy because I have incorrectly installed some plugins (particularly those that are distributed as just ZIP files and they leave it to us to figure out what to do with the file to get it working in GBPVR). Now, I will wait and see what you come up with and not do the fresh install. For now, I've gone back to using the BLUE skin, which doesn't seem to have the problems that the COMMUNITY3 skin does.

Ok, I have a fix. I plan on an update to the installer this sunday to have this fix and adding the Anime plugin (If it looks like it is ready).
This goes in the \skin\Community3 folder. [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

I extracted the files into the directory you indicated and in CONFIG set it to use the COMMUNITY3 and I still get a crash. Is there something else I have to do?

I'll get the installer updated tonight and post it and we'll see how it goes.

Thank you. It's nice to not have to "walk on eggshells" and hold my breath when I start a plug-in to wait and see whether it will crash or not. |
