Can anyone recommend a cable signal applifier they've been happy with? I'm dividing my cable a ridiculous number of times (5 rooms (analog) + 2 cable boxes + 2 digital tuners + 1 analog tuner + 1 cable modem) and getting some dropouts with my digital tuners.

I've done my best to rearrange my splits to minimize db losses on my cable boxes and digital tuners, and I'm using quality splitters, but based on the number of locations in the house I have to feed and not having more than one cable going to any specific room, multiple splits are unavoidable.

I've tried a couple signal amps I've bought at Home Depot and returned them both due to noise they introduced on the analog drops - I didn't bother to test the digital tuners. I don't mind paying for quality amps, but based on my experience with my first two amps, don't want to waste more time buying ones that won't work.

Boy, the one advantage of analog tuners is graceful signal degradation. The all-or-nothing aspect of digital reception is feast or famine. Do you know what happens in this house when we find the signal dropped out during a Lost recording?

To be honest, the one we get from Insight has worked the best for me. Sending you a PM.

I have a similar situation with multiple splitters and just installed a Radio Shack amp that seems to work fine. Increased the digital SNR on my STB by >10 dB (now 37 dB) with no other problems noted. TVs connected to analog cable look fine. It is a Radio Shack 15-2505 and I installed it close to the cable entrance to the house; it seemed about the same when I tested it installed at the splitter box in the basement, however.

I didn't check the part number you listed but I suspect I use the same one. It is a remote power cable amp that you can put outside where the cable comes in to get the most bang for the buck. I got about 10dbs better snr on my digital box as well.

Thanks for the suggestion - it works perfectly. Increased my HDHomeRun's signal strength 5-10% on all stations, most about 9%, and didn't appear to introduce any static on the analog channels.

After having bought two others that were useless I figured it wasn't worth wasting my time buying and returning any more until I at least bought one that had a trusted recommendation. Thanks again!
