It was getting on for 2am so I gave up. I did reboot too. Will try a different USB Stick later perhaps....

Sorry fellers, bad USB Stick ... I should have know better. I now get the telnet message, and when I use putty on Port 23 using Telnet I get Busybox 1.5.0 blah blah, then / #.

Now I need some hand-holding ... Presumably I leave the white Telnet screen up on the PH?

It doesn't seem to have cat as a built-in command
  • when I type cat <enter> it just drops down a line.
  • when I type cat /tmp/settings.txt <enter>, initially it just repeated cat /tmp/settings.txt back at me. The second time I got the stuff below, "No such ...."
  • Are you supposed to log in like the mvmpc Putty sessions?
Code:
=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= PuTTY log 2008.03.01 15:06:58 =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=
BusyBox v1.5.0 (2008-01-18 11:52:19 MYT) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
/ #
/ # cat /tmp/current_tv
0/ # current      at /tmp/tvmode
0
/ # cat /tmp/settings.txt
cat: /tmp/settings.txt: No such file or directory
/ #
cat /tmp/tvmode

Quote:Also as a heads up my preference will be to run the emulation mode client from a share and not from the usb stick ...... I actually want you to map to the mvpmc share with NMT software if you can.

Does this mean putting lundman's files in my mvpmc share instead of the USB?

I had a little more success when I cd'd into tmp FIRST, then issues cat settings.txt. Dunno why it didn't work from cat /tmp/settings.txt :confused:

Anyway, list below. Not too worried about passwords atm, all 1234 .. :-)

Anyway, some success... sorry I don't know how to issue these telnet/*nix commands with confidence, but I'm happy to be led by the nose... btw, running SD PAL analog.

OK, done that. Took all of 2 secs. Already shared from my mvpmc sessions. So what do I stick IN that dir... you have a dongle :-) ? Or do I stick all those files from lundman in there instead of using the USB stick?

I'm having difficulties with this. When I choose "Browse" I get the message "No workgroup found". In Vista the firewall is disabled and the name of the workgroup is "WORKGROUP". Networkdetection is on. I'm beginning to feel like a newbe :o

k, that's good and bad it confirmed that with tvmode 0 (auto) set I can't tell what video standard to use. Could you now send your settings.txt with the mvpmc share added?

Chris, Do you have the computer browser service turned on?

Thats perfect.

Now copy busybox26 telnet.html and script.cgi into the mvpmc share. Eventually script.cgi will do what dongle.bin.config is doing today and load the gbpvr client

edit telnet.html to look like

<a href="http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB]%20SMURFPC:mvpmc/script.cgi">Telnetd</a>

and edit script.cgi to look like the following, use your ip instead of xx.xx.xx.xx

#!/bin/sh

echo "Content-Length: 29";
echo "Content-type: text/html";
echo "";

cd ~
mkdir /etc/mvpmc
mount -t cifs //xx.xx.xx.xx/mvpmc /etc/mvpmc/ -o username=guest,ro
ln -s /etc/mvpmc/busybox26 /usr/bin/telnetd
telnetd -l /bin/sh -p 23 &
echo "Telnetd started on port 23";
exit 0;

Yes! I've got it. I returned to my fresh Vista image without the Hanewin software and now I've got my mvpmc share on the PCH. I'll follow the instructions you (Martin) gave to jksmurf.
