mvpmc has to be set as your default media source too.

OK cracked it, finally. Took a bit of hunting.... as usual, I ALWAYS miss the share issue. I find if you make a file o/s of the share and drop it IN the share (script.cgi in this case), you need to enable sharing for the Guest for that file AFTER you drop it in the share.

Code:
=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= PuTTY log 2008.03.02 18:52:15 =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=

BusyBox v1.5.0 (2008-01-18 11:52:19 MYT) Built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
/ #
/ # ls opt/sybhttpd/loc calhost.drives/
[SMB] SMURFPC:ArchivedMovies3  [SMB] THESLUG:DISK 1
[SMB] SMURFPC:GBPVRVids        [SMB] THESLUG:DISK 2
[SMB] SMURFPC:mvpmc
/ #

btw, when it was enabled, it MADE a dir /etc/mvpmc, right?

However I mistakenly tried to run telnet.html this again and got the error it could NOT make [SIZE=2]/etc/mvpmc (presumably as it is already made). So does this mean I need NEVER run this again i.e. telnet is now enabled for good, or does it trash [SIZE=2]/etc/mvpmc every time I turn it off?
[/SIZE][/SIZE]
So I guess we're waiting for stuff to press # :-) ?

I think it stays active until you unplug the power cord.

Telnet will stay active as long as the PCH is running or you can kill. But running telnet is going to be optional anyway. If you noticed in that latest video before launching mvpmc I also showed telnet as a separate app.

Now that you have reached this stage I recommend making a permanent shortcut. Go into Web Services, is find a blank spot and select edit from the option on the left to add the url you want. I will stay with k's url an example. (Adding as usb keyboard for this helps me since I'm an old guy who hasn't mastered text on a phone.)

http://localhost.drives:8883/[SMB] SMURFPC:mvpmc/script.cgi

Next time you startup go into web services and just key the number beside the entry.

This isn't going to work with the remote control, since '[' and ']' aren't available (at least I can't find it). Any other way to add this?

There is, but only by using the Syabas utility to set this directly into flash. Using this would be totally at your own risk. email me (not PM) if your really want to try this.

During testing I told Syabas that I that those characters were a totally stupid addition and were going to cause problems and I didn't even know about the remote issue. [] has a meaning to the bash shell and it is really hard to work around. I have the same problem with Windows users who want to use [] or {} to put the date on filenames but it is hard to get across.

Hey,

I am a little confused - is the NMT part of the MVP emulation type thing? (just because of where it located on the forum tree)

I received my popcornhour pre-order invite, and my CC has now been charged.

Can I install a MVP emulator on the PH, and is this how I will get a quick interface (as I think it has been said the first release of the GBPVR plugin was a tad slow, due to HTML?)

I think I have missed the point here.

Is thePH a good unit?
Is there anything I will have to do to it to get the GBPVR interface up (as I am quite interested in seeing how my DVB-T HD recordings go) (oh, and being able to use the HDMI on my TV)

I am hoping that I can get an MVP-like emulator working on the NMT platform but this is all being done without help from the vendor so I have not wanted to make promises.

I don't think the PCH has been around long enough to know how "good" it is. It is certainly a capable media extender but who really knows about the product life etc this early in the product lifecycle. Really I consider the whole product in beta, but that is partly because the HD world is really just starting to establish standards.

I'll just stick to the current way of working (telnet), and maybe I'll buy an USB keyboard in the near future. Will the PCH know what keyboard it is? In other words, does it have to be setup to work as "US international", or will it work "out of the box"?

Syabas told me the are going to add the [] characters to remote when I pointed this out to them.

You shouldn't have a problem with a standard keyboard but I don't expect it to understand accents since it actually treated as a remote control and not a true keyboard. The only advantage I see right now will be if and when sub supports alpha characters on the Search and possibly to help navigate libraries but I don't want to talk about all my wishlist stuff yet.
